The critically acclaimed Rick and Morty is set to return with the second half of its fourth season. While the first half delivered some great episodes from a number of different genres, the second half of the series still needs to answer a lot of questions.

From loose plot threads to returning characters, there's plenty more that the show needs to tell viewers before this season comes to an end. Here are 10 questions fans need answered from the second half of Ricky and Morty season 4.

Is Rick's Morty The Original One?

Morty Smith Rick and Morty

There have been rumors for a while that Rick can swap out his Mortys much like he has swapped universes. It seems as if this version of Morty isn't like any others, though, as he appears to be becoming more intelligent.

But Rick is a pretty untrustworthy character, so it wouldn't be surprising that he had abandoned a version of Morty and now wishes to be with this much cleverer version.

What Happened In Rick's Past?

Rick's past is a bit of a mystery. Audiences have seen a fake version of the events that unfolded, but it's not very clear what actually happened. Rick is clearly running away from some kind of trauma.

The assumption is that his wife died in a terrible accident, although there's plenty of reasons to believe that she's alive and has been lying the whole time. This season may answer some of these pressing questions.

Who Is Evil Morty Really?

Evil Morty has appeared a couple of times but has since been left out of the plot. There was an assumption he would return this season. though he has yet to be seen thus far. His backstory is also somewhat of a mystery.

The character obviously hates other Mortys and Ricks but it's not exactly clear why. Rumors suggest he could have been the original Morty. The latest season could finally confirm this theory.

What Is Evil Morty's Next Plan?

If Evil Morty is to return at some point in the future, then his plan certainly needs to be clear. So far there haven't been a lot of clues as to what he wants to achieve. He is currently the president, though.

Evil Morty's power is quite vast, but that doesn't mean he can achieve everything he needs to. Hopefully this part of the season will return to the character and how he is currently using his role.

Can Jerry Last As Part Of The Family?

Jerry has finally returned to his family, but who knows how long that will really last? He usually causes a lot of trouble and hasn't been easy to get along with since he came back.

He simply hasn't changed enough to make this work again. It could all end up as it did before, with the father of the Smiths back by himself, trying to get by in a grungy apartment.

Is This The Real Beth?

Beth could have been cloned and the audience would have no clue. The show has been very secretive as to whether this is the real Beth or if that version of the character is off having her own adventures while the clone iteration is stuck at home.

It's possible that this question could be never answered and that that's the point, or maybe the answer will be given within the next half the season and some normality could be restored.

Is Summer Too Much Like Rick?

Summer is slowly showing signs that she could be a little more like her grandpa than her parents would probably like. She has gone on quite the journey throughout the show so far.

It seems as if Summer is becoming a key player just like Morty, and while Morty resists becoming fully like Rick, it's as if Summer simply can't resist some of the darker qualities of the universe.

Where Is Tammy Now?

Tammy was revealed to be a traitor and now is travelling 'round the galaxy with the resurrected Birdperson, who has now become an alien known as Phoenixperson.

It's clear she will return based on the trailers, and hopefully it will be revealed what she has been doing all this time and why she has chosen now to make a comeback.

Can Rick Make Any Real Friends?

Rick seems to struggle to make real connections and hasn't often had many friends. Over the past few seasons he has tried to make friends but most of them end up dead.

This appears to be a theme that is being explored throughout this season, so perhaps the second half will reveal a new companion for Rick to confide in and perhaps even travel with.

Is Rick And Morty's Relationship Changing?

Rick is constantly trying to put Morty down, but Morty is slowly learning and growing. He is becoming much more advanced and intelligent and has learned how to survive on adventures now.

Due to this character shift, the dynamic between the two could be changing as well. It may well be that they evolve into equal partners more rather than continue as master and apprentice.
