Adult Swim releases a new video for Rick and Morty seeing the mad scientist and his grandfather battling in style akin to Godzilla vs. Kong. The fourth installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse sees humanity turning to Kong to face off against Godzilla after the King of Monsters begins attacking various populated areas. However, with the mysterious Monarch and Apex corporations at the center of the attacks, returning characters from the 2019 Godzilla sequel discover a darker reason behind Godzilla's motivations and must assist the giant ape in his fight.

Rick and Morty was created by Dan Harmon and star Justin Roiland, based on a Back to the Future parody short from the latter, and centers on the titular characters traveling across parallel timelines with the help of Rick's portal gun. Alongside Roiland, the cast for the series includes Sarah Chalke as Rick's daughter Beth, Spencer Grammar as Morty's sister Summer, and Chris Parnell as Rick's timid son-in-law Jerry Smith. After a year hiatus, the series has finally returned for season 5 to rave reviews thus far, and Adult Swim keeps the love rolling for its Emmy-winning series.

With just a few days left until season 5 returns to the network, Adult Swim France took to Twitter to share a new video for Rick and Morty. Adopting a claymation format compared to the show's 2D cartoon animation, the video sees the titular protagonists facing off against each other as kaijus Rickzilla and King Morty, akin to Legendary's Godzilla vs. Kong. Check out the epic video below:

The video comes at an exciting moment as the network just recently released an advertisement seeing the worlds of Rick and Morty and Studio Ghibli, namely My Neighbor Totoro, crossing over in a claymation style. Adult Swim has thrived on its surreal advertising, so while both videos certainly make sense in the context of the network's marketing plans, it may come as a mild disappointment to some that the ongoing recent videos aren't a setup for some intriguing crossovers coming to the series. That being said, with two videos coming in such short succession, it does create a feeling of curiosity as to what realm of pop culture the characters will meld with for the next ad.

Even if the worlds of Ghibli and Legendary's Godzilla vs. Kong don't come to season 5 of Rick and Morty, there's still a lot of exciting things teased for the rest of the season. Between a Hellraiser parody to a gender-swapped Captain Planet, the Adult Swim series's writers' room are ready to fire on all cylinders after keeping viewers waiting for an entire year. Rick and Morty will return with new episodes on Sunday, while GVK is now available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
