Screen Rant is revealing a new Rick and Morty Loot Crate for July, entitled “Far-Away Vibes.” The popular Adult Swim sci-fi comedy series recently released its first trailer for season 5, teasing more of the reality-bending, science-defying, pop culture-referencing adventures fans have come to expect. Co-creators Justin Roiland and Ben Harmon will continue to lead the show through its fifth season, which is scheduled for a premiere on Sunday, June 20 at 11:00pm EST.
Following years of high critical praise, Adult Swim ordered a massive 70-episode extension for Rick and Morty in 2018. It’s never been made clear how many seasons that extension is meant to cover, but writers on the show announced recently that work on season 7 has already begun. For a series that’s only been held back by extended productions schedules, that’s great news, and it means there’s a lot more Rick and Morty content coming in the future.

The new Rick and Morty Loot Crate will drop in the midst of season 5, just as fans are enjoying new adventures for the eponymous duo. After the craziness of season 4, and given how much longer the show will run, it should be interesting to see what kinds of antics Rick gets up to this time around. Rick and Morty Season 4 made a number of fourth wall-breaking jokes about the writers not sticking to any one particular style or genre, which has always been part of the show’s strength. That means fans can probably expect a range of comedy and some more serious episodes in season 5.
Because of the massive extension previously granted to the show by Adult Swim, it’s also possible that the series could set up some larger-scale, multi-season plotlines. That seems a bit outside the scope of Rick and Morty’s traditional episodic structure, but it certainly isn’t out of the question. The series has received significant acclaim by centering both great comedic writing and a strong ensemble of characters, and balancing the two will continue to be its formula for success when Rick and Morty returns for season 5.
