For many fans, Rick and Morty managed to outdo themselves in its sophomore season - taking the memorable concepts and humorous zingers and dialing up the absurdity and grandiosity. In just 10 episodes, this crazy second season has had everything from time rifts to false memory parasites to "schwifty" earth-saving jam sessions.

Naturally, this has spawned a slew of quotes ranging from goofy to hilarious to profound - and everything in-between. With this list, we'll use our portal guns to take a trip back to the past and examine 10 of season 2's funniest, most memorable lines.

"If I Wanted To Be Sober, I Wouldn't Have Gotten Drunk."

Unity and Rick together on Rick and Morty

In the episode "Auto Erotic Assimilation," Morty's grandfather encounters an ex-spouse, but as you'd expect with Rick - this is no ordinary being. In fact, it's an alien hivemind capable of simultaneously controlling the minds of millions. It turns out the entity, named Unity, has done just that.

Though the Smiths provide much of the humorous dialogue, Unity has their amusing moments as well. One comes in the form of a helicopter pilot, who has gotten "vicariously" drunk through a separate Unity who's drinking and partying with Rick.

After Morty suggests sobering up while piloting a chopper bringing them to safety, the being responds with this gem of a line.

"It's Funny To Say They Are Small, It's Funny To Say They Are Big..."

Rick and Morty Quiz - Shrimply Pibbles

Rick and Morty occasionally reminds viewers that through the perspective of alien cultures, humanity would likely look very "alien" to them, relatively speaking.

In the season 2 sequel to "Interdimensional Cable," Jerry gets pressured into having his "manhood" detached and given away for science; specifically as a replacement heart for the galactic civil rights leader, Shrimply Pibbles.

Following Jerry's natural reluctancy to part with this asset, a wise old alien explains the simplicity of humankind and its infatuation with penises. This line can be filed under the category of - "it's funny because it's true."

"As Far As Grandpa's Concerned, You're Both Pieces Of Sh*t."

A Rickle in Time Rick and Morty

As Rick and Morty develops throughout season 2, a sibling rivalry between Morty and his sister Summer grows more prominent. This is established during season 2's chaotic first episode.

After Summer calls Morty out on his apparent jealousy of Rick for spending more time with her, Rick hits them with a blunt, cynical dose of reality. This line is amusing in its frankness, reinforcing Rick's nonchalant attitude. It's also a reminder that Summer and Morty's striving to win their preoccupied grandpa's approval is futile.

"Let Me Out! Let Me Out! This Is Not A Dance!"

Teenage emotions can be complex and occasionally grim. This notion is conveyed to both Rick and the show's fanbase during "Big Trouble in Little Sanchez." In it, Rick transfers his consciousness to a younger, "tinier" clone. Though the clone partly consists of the mind of regular Rick, there's also a growing consciousness of a younger, compartmentalized Rick.

As it becomes more clear that his real self is trapped and at the mercy of his teen clone, he attempts to communicate a message through his dancing alter ego. This manifests in the most hilarious of ways, through an impromptu dance that has him "begging for help."

The fact that everybody simply dances along with him rather than catch on to his S.O.S call makes it all the funnier.

"I Told Them This Means 'Peace Among Worlds.'"

"The Ricks Must Be Crazy" features Morty's grandfather at his zany - and somewhat depraved - best. Aside from concocting a whole micro civilization that powers his car battery, he also exploits his power as its creator.

These amusing actions involve him convincing their leaders that curse words translate to "much obliged," while flipping the bird is a signal representing "peace among worlds." To cap off this humorous gag, and this accompanying line - Morty wastes no time exploiting it himself, clearly getting a kick out of it.

"I Don't Like Your Unemployed Genes In My Grandchildren, Jerry. But Life Is Made Of Little Concessions."

Rick and Morty Mortynight Run Jerry Smith

Rick and Morty's funny back-and-forth banter often comes in the form of Rick's ribbing of his inept son-in-law. He makes it quite clear that he's not too keen on the man, nor his influence on his daughter.

During a time in season 2 that sees Jerry "in-between jobs," Rick retorts with this cold diss, following Jerry's statement that he "doesn't like glowing rocks in the kitchen trash."

Believe it or not - this episode, "Total Rickall," only gets more wacky and hilarious from this point, as this banter gives way to memory-altering parasites.

"If You Spend All Day Shuffling Words Around, You Can Make Anything Sound Bad, Morty."

Rick has a knack for spouting profundities at a moment's notice. One such zinger takes place during "Mortynight Run," which features Morty calling out Rick once again. This time, Rick's spotty ethics involves his dealings with a galactic hitman, the currency of which is used to play arcade games at "Blips and Chitz."

Morty establishes that his grandfather had "sold a gun to a murderer so he could play video games," after which Rick responds with this clever quote. It's one of those many moments in the show where a seemingly goofy line can be subtly smart and thought-provoking.

"Get It All Together And Put It In A Back Pack."

Morty and Summer in Big Trouble in Little Sanchez

The previous entry aside, Rick and Morty also contains funny dialogue that's just plain silly - while lacking any clever puns or philosophical food for thought. Case in point? This exchange between Morty and his sister in "Big Trouble In Little Sanchez." It involves a discussion as to whether or not put an end to the "Tiny Rick" experiment.

Morty claims that his new tiny classmate has made both Rick and himself happy, and accuses Summer of wanting to cease this joy by putting Rick back in his regular body.

What follows is a statement imploring her to "get her sh*t together" multiple times. It's spoken with such colorful terminology and redundancy that one can't help but laugh.

"That Just Sounds Like Slavery With Extra Steps!"

"The Ricks Must Be Crazy" Rick and Morty episode

As it happens, Rick managed to create a battery to power his car using a microscopic, self-sufficient civilization of aliens. When Morty confronts him on the ethical issues of getting an entire species to labor away for him, he counters that this is merely a functioning society.

In a classic zinger, Morty then responds with this classic quote, which Rick hypocritically spouts later in the episode to an alien in his universe.

One could say this episode truly puts things into perspective in a number of ways...

"Weddings Are Basically Funerals With Cake."

"The Wedding Squanchers" reinforces Rick's apparent all-knowing brilliance - and its tendency to make him cynical and nihilistic. Rick is usually at his comedic best when he's speaking these quotes that more-or-less amount to, "screw the world," and, "nothing matters."

Rick's bitterness of his pal Birdperson "tying the knot" is partly what led him to say this. Regardless, the quip ends up being pretty prophetic, making it even funnier. This action-packed episode features an alien wedding that swiftly gets raided by the Galactic Federation, leaving many dead in the crossfire. No wonder Rick is so negative...
