Fans of old-school wrestling could be in for a treat during WWE SummerSlam weekend, as the legendary Hulk Hogan is rumored to be Ric Flair's opponent for his final match at Starrcast V. Earlier this month, it became known that The Nature Boy would be lacing up his boots one last time this summer, and is set to take part in Conrad Thompson's yearly event. Some details about the bout have emerged, but the biggest question surrounding the match is who Flair will actually be wrestling against.

This year's Starrcast V, which is billed as "the Woodstock of Professional Wrestling," will feature a whole lot of Flair. The Roast Of Ric Flair on July 29th is sure to keep fans entertained, while he'll take part in his conclusive match later on in the weekend. The two most expensive VIP bundles for Starrcast (priced at $1,999 and $1,199, respectively) were both sold out as of this writing, suggesting that The Dirtiest Player In The Game may still be a draw at the age of 73.

If former WWE star and close friend of Hogan, Brian Blair, is to be believed, Flair will be squaring off against none other than The Immortal Hulk Hogan. “I’m looking forward to seeing Flair and Hogan,” Blair let slip, according to Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co. When pressed to confirm the Hogan vs. Flair match, Blair was reluctant to do so, stating that he'd just read that on the internet. As Davis points out in his post, however, no site on the wrestling world radar had published anything about Hogan coming out of retirement to wrestle Flair.

Ric Flair

The same can't be said now, as talk about a potential bout between Hogan and Flair during SummerSlam weekend has intensified for numerous reasons, including concerns regarding the health risks involved for both wrestlers. It's a spot that Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat was offered, but he declined. This won't be a one-on-one match, of course. FTR has been booked to tag with Flair, while the Rock N’ Roll Express and an opponent to be named will be on the other side of the ring. If what Blair is saying is true, then it'll be the Top Guys and Flair against Hogan and the Rock N’ Roll Express.

That setup would allow Flair to be protected somewhat. FTR is arguably the best tag team in the business, and getting into the ring with legends like this will only further their growing profiles as high-end performers. They were always great in NXT, but WWE squandered them on the main roster. Now in the middle of a white-hot face run, FTR is poised to take part in a historic match that could include both Hogan and Flair wrestling for the final time.
