Blake Lively stars in a new spy thriller that might launch a new franchise, but does The Rhythm Section have a post-credits scene setting up a sequel? After her time on Gossip Girl came to an end in 2012, Lively's career started to take off with multiple leading roles. She's done her time as a romantic lead with The Age of Adaline but has recently found herself exploring the thriller genre in numerous ways. Between the shark attack focused film The Shallows, the domestic thriller All I See Is You, and her collaboration with Anna Kendrick on A Simple Favor, Lively has shown she's got what it takes in this genre.

Now, Lively stars in The Rhythm Section, a spy-thriller directed by Reed Morano (The Handmaid's Tale), where she plays Stephanie Patrick, a woman who is out for revenge. The inciting incident for Stephanie's new life is a plane crash that killed her family, and she's determined to find out who is responsible and make them pay. The Rhythm Section co-stars Jude Law and Sterling K. Brown, with both of their characters wrapped up in Stephanie's quest for revenge. Paramount Pictures has moved Rhythm Section's release date around a bit following an on-set injury for Lively, but The Rhythm Section is finally hitting theaters.

After captivating trailers that sold the public on an intriguing tale of revenge mixed with action, those interested can check out the film can now see what it has to offer and may even be curious whether or not they need to sit through the credits to see more. However, those hoping to see something after the credits will be disappointed, as The Rhythm Section does not have a post-credits scene. Instead, moviegoers can sit through the credits to see the names of everyone who worked on the film.

The Rhythm Section poster with Blake Lively

With The Rhythm Section just now being released, it is too early to know whether or not a sequel will be made. The film comes from Paramount and the producers of the James Bond franchise, so they know a thing or two about making a successful spy franchise. Unfortunately for those hopes, The Rhythm Section has received a mostly negative response to this point - although Screen Rant's review is more positive, saying the film is "wonderfully acted by Blake Lively and immersively directed by Reed Morano, creating a tense and mostly engaging thriller."

The good news for The Rhythm Section's franchise hopes, though, is that Rotten Tomatoes scores don't make or break a film's success with audiences and at the box office. It does have a tough road to climb out the gate with Super Bowl weekend likely to keep many at home instead of at the theater and with Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) arriving next week. Still, if audiences respond well to The Rhythm Section, then future adventures with Blake Lively could be had - just don't expect any teases of them to come after the credits begin.
