Sterling K. Brown has joined the cast of The Rhythm Section as filming on the spy movie resumes following Blake Lively's hand injury. Reed Morano (I Think We're Alone Now) is directing the action thriller from a script by Mark Burnell, based on his own novel. Jude Law is also starring in the film, though it's unclear what his role is.

The Rhythm Section stars Lively as Stephanie Patrick, a woman who is out for revenge against the people who killed her family in an orchestrated plane crash. To gain vengeance, Patrick joins a covert intelligence organization where she becomes an assassin who operates under various guises. The film was well underway when, in January, Lively suffered a serious hand injury while performing a stunt, thus resulting in a temporary production shut down. The actress underwent two surgeries on her hand and is now fully recovered and ready to return.

THR reports that with The Rhythm Section ready to resume filming, the movie's cast has added another major star in Sterling K. Brown. Details on Brown's character have not yet been revealed. Brown is a hot name coming off his turn as N'Jobu from Marvel's Black Panther, the superhero blockbuster that to date has grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide.

Before playing Erik Killmonger's ill-fated father in Black Panther, Brown was best-known for playing Randall Pearson on the hit NBC series This Is Us, a role which earned him a 2017 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Brown also won an Emmy in 2016 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie for portraying attorney Christopher Darden in The People v. O.J. Simpson - American Crime Story. Brown can next be seen starring alongside Jodie Foster in the sci-fi thriller Hotel Artemis, which releases in just a few days. Later this year he'll tussle with alien big-game hunters alongside Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Jacob Tremblay and Boyd Holbrook in Shane Black's The Predator.

Obviously it was a scary situation for Blake Lively when she injured herself doing a stunt back in January, but it sounds like she's fully healed now. And it appears that The Rhythm Section is fully back on-track. Sterling K. Brown's late addition to the cast makes the thriller, with its story blending revenge and espionage, sound even more promising. The movie also stars Daniel Mays, Raza Jaffrey, and Tawfeek Barhom, and it's slated to hit theaters next year.
