Mary Cosby from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City was allegedly originally cast as a friend of the housewives instead of a full-time housewife.

Mary has undoubtedly added to the drama of the freshman season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The preacher was recently caught on audiotape complaining about the fact that her parishioners didn't give her birthday money. Mary and her aggressive attitude have left fans shocked. They've been surprised by some of the things she's said while watching the newest RHOSLC episodes. The mother of one is not a fan of apologizing (or admitting when she is wrong) but fans can’t deny that she was made to be a housewife.

It's apparent that the network did not always think that she was Real Housewives material. Many fans have pointed out that Mary has gone missing in the last couple of episodes. The unofficial @realhousewivesofSLC Instagram account alleged that she was originally cast as only a friend by the production company. After a couple of fans started inquiring as to Mary’s whereabouts, the social media account revealed that Mary filmed as a “friend of” so by this point in filming, she was pretty much done. Her status was changed to full-time, so we’ll still see her on the show but not as much as we’d expect.” Even though she was eventually signed as a full-time housewife, there still wasn’t a lot of footage of her, so fans should prepare to see less of Mary than they normally would, even though the network felt she deserved to have full-time status. Although nothing has been decided about who will be asked back for a second season, many think that it looks like everyone could be asked to return, since each cast member brings a unique storyline. Apparently, halfway through filming RHOSLC, the production company changed.

Fans have made it clear that they enjoy watching Mary Cosby on the small screen and want her to have more air time next season. There seems to be a lot of skeletons in her closet that have not even begun to be dug out yet.

Currently, Bravo viewers are watching Jen Shah freak out on almost everyone around her, including Mary. The two have struggled to get along since the start of the season.
