Jennie Nguyen and Mary Cosby of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City are becoming fast enemies after Jennie publicly called out Mary for making racist comments. In last night’s episode of RHOSLC, Jennie made it clear that she was not okay with the comments her co-star Mary has been making, including complimenting Jennie’s “slanted eyes”. Choosing to stand up for herself and her community, Jennie’s attempt to educate Mary ended in further animosity. To make matters worse, other cast members have reminded viewers that this isn’t the first time Cosby has said something about a co-star.

Mary is no stranger to controversy after landing under the microscope before the first season of RHOSLC. The 49-year old is the First Lady of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, which she inherited from founder and grandmother Rosemary. Rosemary’s church isn’t the only thing she left for Mary, however: she also requested that Mary become the wife of Robert Cosby Sr., aka her step-grandfather. Although the two aren’t biologically related, fans and co-stars have had much to say about the union; likewise, Mary is quick to give her opinion. before Nguyen joined the show, Mary had already made several comments about Jen Shah. From arguing about hospital smells in season one to calling her “heartless” and “a thug'’ this season, Mary has already apologized for comparing Shah to a Mexican drug dealer.

Despite her past remarks, Mary has continued with her harmful rhetoric, this time aiming towards the newest addition to RHOC. As reported by People, Mary’s observation of Jennie’s eyes left the star understandably “frustrated and very mad”. With Jennie explaining to viewers that “it comes across as racist” and that Mary should know better, the star doubled down on her remark, saying “Really? I love slanted eyes.” Although Mary eventually apologized for what she said, the rest of the ladies were left with sour tastes in their mouths at her repeated offenses.

Although the situation went down sometime last year, it’s clear that things are not quite mended. Taking to Instagram, Jennie uploaded a screengrab of herself smiling during the tense conversation. Shining in a white sequin outfit, the housewife called out Mary’s transgressions by writing, “People need to be accountable for the things they say.” Adding that she “can’t wait for the reunion!!!”, fans praised Jennie and applauded how she handled the issue. Tiffany Moon from Real Housewives of Dallas said, "Love you girl. Sending you lots of hugs from Dallas," while another user commented, “the way you spoke up was marvelous, you gathered everyone from the cast to the audience together and let them know what it is and you looked fantastic doing it. You’re an incredible Housewife.”

As a refugee from Vietnam, Jennie’s addition to the second season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has been met with positive feedback from fans. Viewers are responsive to her personality and how she interacts with the other women; others are intrigued yet horrified by Jennie's husband Duy Tran. Unafraid to speak her mind, fans are anxious to see Jennie and Mary face off at the reunion of RHOSLC season two.
