Jen Shah of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City received backlash following a leaked video of the star verbally abusing and assaulting a member of the Shah squad. The Shah squad, the name Shah bestowed upon her large group of assistants, made their debut in the first episode of the newest housewives’ installment. Shah shared several scenes with her assistants throughout the show’s debut season, presenting a fun dynamic between herself and her staff.
Fans critiqued Shah throughout the show's first season for putting on a performance and lacking authenticity. They felt Shah tried too hard to present herself as the show’s fan favorite. She appeared unhinged at times and overreacted to situations in a way that appeared to be too crazy for some. Throughout the season, she screamed at her castmates on numerous occasions, often hurling painful words their way in the process. While her castmates tried to call out her behavior, Shah constantly made excuses for her actions, often blaming the situation for her erratic actions.
However, it appears Shah’s crazy temper wasn’t an act at all. Footage of the housewife berating an unknown assistant recently leaked on Twitter, following another case of leaked audio that showed Shah verbally abusing her team. “And you can stop fucking smiling b*tch and being a f***ing b*tch, because you are,” screamed Shah to an offscreen assistant. "Go handle this sh*t, f***ing handle it. “F***ing don’t have a f***ing attitude with me,” continued Shah, to which the assistant nicely replied, “I’m not having an attitude." The voice of the assistant sounded female. Shah went on to say, “I am f***ing going to reunion this week, shut the f**k up." The Salt Lake City housewife proceeded to throw an object in the supposed direction of the assistant. See the leaked footage below:
But Shah didn't stop there. “Everybody fucking leave. You f***ing think this is funny,” yelled the queen of tantrums. The rant continued as Shah involved yet another member of her squad. “Handle this sh*t,” Shah demanded of the other assistant. A male voice replied, “I will." Shah left the room in a fit, but her outburst can still be heard from off-camera, as she yells, “I don’t need this f***ing sh*t." Shah’s husband, who is also being called out by fans for being condescending to his wife, entered the frame talking to the assistant. Finally, Shah returned and in a calmer tone said, “What the f**k is this sh*t, I have been very patient all f***ing night.”
The two-minute video certainly doesn't paint Shah in the best light, regardless of not knowing the cause of the outburst. Most observers would agree the language and temperament should never be used with a subordinate. Shah has not addressed the video on social media. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is currently filming its second season, so the reality star may confront the situation on camera. The video only gives her fellow housewives something else to attack her with if they choose. Hopefully, the Shah Squad does not face any more verbal or physical attacks in the meantime.
