Fans of The Real Housewives of New York are curious to know more about Leah's mom, Bunny McSweeney. Despite Leah's rocky past with her mother, the strong-minded parent has grown on viewers.

The Real Housewives of New York is experiencing a huge period of transition right now. This week, the news of Dorinda Medley leaving rocked the franchise. Rumors claim Dorinda was fired from the series for her difficult behavior, especially when she drinks. It was also rumored that Luann de Lesseps and Ramona Singer were fighting to keep their spots. Bravo feels their storyline may have come to their natural end. While the franchise may experience some big changes in the future, this past season has shown the women of the Big Apple binge-drinking and arguing at every occasion.

Thankfully, the August 27 episode had a bright spot. In a touching moment, Bunny McSweeney stood up to talk about her daughter, Leah McSweeney. Now, fans want to know more about this sweet mom. Just recently, Bunny turned 68 years old (via Stars Offline). While her birthplace is unknown, she now resides in Newton, Connecticut. After graduating high school, Bunny went on to earn a medical degree. She then got a license from the state of New York to work as a Social Worker specializing in behavioral and social health in New York City. Her experience allowed her to be a source of support for her daughter when she was coping with alcoholism.

Fans already know Bunny is a strict Catholic who takes the time to educate her granddaughter with at-home religion classes. Leah admitted to having a pretty rough upbringing and was expelled from Convent of the Sacred Heart, leading her family to move to Connecticut to finish her schooling. Leah also admitted that she tried to run away on numerous occasions because she and her mother did not get along. The reality star revealed that after high school, she spent three months in rehab. Fans felt Bunny was too strict with her daughter, since both she and her husband told Leah she was not welcomed back in their home and left her at a halfway house run by nuns. Fans also learned that Bunny chose not to speak with her daughter when she learned she had started drinking again, causing a strain on their relationship. Even though Bunny admitted she did not always like Leah, the two are working on their relationship. The mother-daughter duo has since talked out their issues and Bunny reassured Leah that she has accomplished a lot since her teenage days, saying, “You got sober. You had a baby. You have a business. You did fine. I think when you think I'm judging about the drinking ... I wouldn't want to see you lose what you have worked so hard for."

Bravo fans were quick to learn that Bunny was very much like Leah: stubborn and beats to the rhythm of her own drum. After the recent episode, there is a special place in viewers' hearts for the matriarch, especially following the touching tribute she gave to her daughter on the 15th anniversary of her clothing line, Married to the Mob.
