Dorinda from RHONY was axed by Bravo for being a “mean drunk”. While the reality star had her issues, she also has added a lot to the show, so it's hard for many fans to understand why the network wanted her gone.
The “make it nice” housewife has brought RHONY fans seasons of enjoyment. For the most part, Medley tried to not offend any of the women but failed when it came to them cornering her about her anger issues. The women of the Big Apple were often concerned that she had a drinking problem which she did not want to admit to. She was seen acting mean many times, after a night out with the women. Most fans chalked it up to depression since she was still mourning the loss of her late husband.
According to Page Six, Dorinda was let go because she was a “mean drunk.” Bravo viewers have noticed for the past couple of seasons that Dorinda did not handle her liquor well, but they were still surprised that it affected her reality star status to the extent that the network decided 'enough is enough'.
Fans are devastated by the latest news out of the Bravo clubhouse, especially because many would argue that the whole season of The Real Housewives of New York has been about the culture of drinking. Every single housewife has been binge-drinking during the episodes. According to the outlet, Dorinda was "blindsided" by the firing after starring on the show for six seasons. Apparently, when she got the call, she was filming an episode of ABC’s The 100,000 Pyramid. Fellow castmates were often repeatedly at the center of Dorinda’s attacks, especially Luann de Lesseps, who struggled with sobriety issues of her own. Dorinda Medley had issues of her own but could not accept that, and this did not sit well with the other housewives.
The network was looking into changing the diversity on the show as well. Dorinda’s abusive attitude did not go well for the look Bravo was trying to go for. While Bravo may think that Dorinda’s outburst started to become a problem, many fans are finding it hard to understand why they did not offer the blonde help in exchange for her keeping her apple. Many Bravo fans feel that it may be time to take a break from the franchise after the loss of two major players, Bethenny Frankel and now Dorinda. All that is left is Ramona Singer, who frankly, should be fired since her mean-spirited attitude has not been sitting well with viewers.
