Jackie Goldschneider has been part of The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast since season 9, but it is rumored that she will be demoted to a “friend of” for season 13. Jackie caused a stir during her debut season on RHONJ when she showed she wasn’t afraid to stand up to veteran Teresa Giudice. The former lawyer brought up Teresa’s then-husband Joe Giudice’s prison sentence, which caused Teresa to see red. Since then, Teresa and Jackie were never able to be on the same page and become friends.
Teresa and Jackie’s feud became even worse when the former brought up a rumor that Jackie’s husband, Evan Goldschneider, was cheating on his wife. The topic became RHONJ season 11’s biggest point of contention. Teresa eventually apologized to Evan for bringing up the rumor, but a lot of damage had been done. In RHONJ season 12, Jackie opened up about how hard it was to address the unfounded rumor and that it put a strain on her marriage. She also shared how it impacted her eating disorder, which fans saw her struggle to overcome this season.
Despite Jackie’s most soul-baring season, there are rumors that she will be demoted to a friend status for RHONJ season 13. Instagram page RHONJ Obsessed recently posted a photo with the text, “What I know about #RHONJ S13: Filming starts end of May. Jackie demoted. They are testing 3 women. Danielle - friend of Teresa, Jennifer - friend of Marge, and Rachel - friend of Melissa.” Many RHONJ fans expressed outrage at the possibility of Jackie being demoted, especially after opening up about her eating disorder. Jackie touched upon it in the previous seasons, but she made it seem as if she recovered. However, in RHONJ season 12, Jackie tearfully admitted that it’s an ongoing struggle, and fans watched as she sought help.
Some RHONJ fans were glad to see Jackie lose her main cast member role. She has been criticized for being “boring” and “uptight.” One fan thought that the step-down might be better for Jackie’s health and commented on RHONJ OBSESSED’s post, “Definitely agree with Jackie being demoted. She’s too fragile for reality TV. Absolutely do not let Marge’s or Melissa’s friends aboard.” After Jackie opened up about her struggles with anorexia this season, some RHONJ fans thought that being on a reality television show may not be the best for her recovery as it is a very stressful environment.
If Jackie is indeed being demoted to a “friend of” for RHONJ season 13, many fans will be disappointed, as they have become invested in her life. Evan has also become a fan-favorite husband, and viewers love watching his bond with the other men on the show. Other Real Housewives stars have been demoted only to return as one of the main cast members again. Sheree Whitfield has been on-and-off of The Real Housewives of Atlanta before coming back as a full cast member for season 14. Hopefully, this rumored demotion won’t spell the end of Jackie’s career on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
