In part three of The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 12 reunion, Teresa Giudice’s fiancé Luis Ruelas finally got to speak out against the allegations about him and redeemed himself. Teresa and Luis became official in 2020, and her RHONJ castmates were overjoyed for her newfound love. However, some unsavory information about Luis’ past started coming out. Luis was in the headlines for a lawsuit his ex-fiancé filed against him. She accused him of being controlling and manipulative and alleged that he was emotionally abusive.

Soon, more shady details about Luis started emerging, such as an assault charge against him from a road rage incident in 2018. In addition, just before filming RHONJ season 12, a video of Luis was released of him and a bunch of men at a “warrior camp." In the video, Luis was begging his ex-fiancé to give him another chance while shirtless men rallied around him. The RHONJ cast thought it was bizarre and wanted to talk to Teresa about it, but she shut down any mention of the video. Her RHONJ castmate Margaret Josephs wanted her and Luis to clear the air and get ahead of any rumors, but anytime she brought it up, Teresa would get upset and didn’t allow Luis to address it either.

During the RHONJ season 12 reunion, host Andy Cohen brought out the husbands, including Luis. Andy asked Luis about the video, which finally gave him a chance to tell his side of the story. He explained that he had gone to a retreat with his business partner because he was on the fence about his relationship with his ex. The men urged him to commit to her, and that’s why Luis proposed in the video. However, when Luis went home, he realized they were in a toxic relationship and broke things off with her. As soon as Luis explained his side, Teresa’s brother Joe Gorga applauded loudly in appreciation of his explanation. Margaret agreed that had he told his side sooner, he could have shut down all the gossip.

Andy asked Luis about the other allegations against him, particularly ones by his exes. He explained that the domestic charges were made by his ex-wife, and while he wasn’t a perfect man by any means, he never hit her, despite her claims. Luis further redeemed himself by making amends with Margaret and acknowledging that she had no ill-intent towards him. Luis also was surprisingly the voice of reason with Teresa, who refused to back down from believing that Margaret was out to get him. As Luis left the stage, he urged Teresa to calm down, and she was making a mistake with the way she was behaving that night.

RHONJ fans finally got the explanations they were waiting for all season. The warrior camp video was particularly strange, and it seemed bizarre that Luis was pleading for a woman to give him a chance just months before he was seemingly in love with Teresa. Throughout RHONJ season 12, had Luis been given a chance to explain everything, he would have seemed like less of a villain. During Teresa’s barbecue, he tried to talk about his past, but she kept interrupting him and didn’t allow him to explain. Hopefully, his answers at The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion allowed Luis to clear the air once and for all with the group.
