In The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 12 reunion, Teresa Giudice’s fiancé, Luis Ruelas, said he wanted to have a Sex And The City courthouse wedding but former friend of Kim DePaola revealed that he stole the idea from his ex. Teresa’s relationship with Luis became the focal point for much of RHONJ season 12. Although her castmates were happy for her newfound love, they were concerned about Luis’ strange warrior camp video and abuse allegations made by his exes. Unfortunately, Teresa shut down any discussion surrounding Luis and refused to let him address anything on RHONJ.

During the RHONJ season 12 reunion, host Andy Cohen finally gave Luis the chance to clear up all the rumors and accusations that were in the media. Luis explained that his warrior camp video was a last-ditch effort to save his relationship with his ex-fiancé. He explained in the reunion that when he got home from the retreat, his ex demanded that he give her $1 million in order for her to marry him, which prompted him to break off the engagement. He also shared that Sex And The City was his favorite show and that he had wanted to get married at the courthouse and go to a diner afterwards, just like Carrie and Big did.

Kim revealed recently on Behind The Velvet Rope with David Yontef that the Sex And The City wedding was not, in fact, Luis’ idea. The RHONJ star had reached out to his ex-fiancé, Paula Sanchez, and was told that the Sex And The City courthouse wedding was her idea. Kim shared, “[Paula] said, first of all, it was her idea about Sex And The City. She loves Sex And The City and she wanted to do the diner thing and get married at the courthouse.” Kim told David that according to Paula, after Luis proposed to her, he said, “‘We’re going to do what you want. We’re going to go to the justice of the peace. Then we’re going to go to the diner. We’re going to do exactly what you want.’”

Kim also refuted Luis’ claim that Paula wanted $1 million from him. According to Paula, she lost her job, and Luis assured her he had $50 million in his bank account. Feeling unsettled at the thought of getting married while she was unemployed, she asked Luis to open a joint account with her and put in $1 million. Kim shared, “She was broke. She had no job. And she was giving up her home. What she said to him because he said he had $50 million, ‘Can we please open up a joint account to make me feel comfortable that I’m moving my daughter in with you?’” Kim went on to say that Paula’s intentions were not to get $1 million from Luis but to make her feel comfortable being with him after he walked out on her numerous times throughout their relationship.

RHONJ season 12 is over, but negative stories keep coming up that put Luis in a negative light. Luis is also embroiled in a string of lawsuits. Besides the one from his ex, accusing him of abuse, Luis and his business are being sued for refusing to pay his vendors. Despite her fiancé being in financial hot water, Teresa is not signing a prenuptial agreement before getting married. Andy, who has known Teresa since she joined The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 1, advised her to get one, but she seems determined that everything with Luis will work out.
