Rumors are swirling on social media that The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania has allegedly broken up with her boyfriend of four years, David Principe. Dolores was always in the background of the early seasons of the show before officially becoming a housewife in season 7. As an old friend of Teresa Giudice's, Dolores has an interesting perspective when it comes to dealing with her and is able to reason with her in a way no other cast member can. She quickly became a fan-favorite for her relatability and her honesty. Dolores is not afraid to tell it like it is, and as a former prison guard, she is not someone any of the other housewives want to get into it with and land on her bad side.
Last season, the storyline surrounding Dolores revolved around where her relationship with her boyfriend, David, was going. The other housewives were confused about Dolores' change of heart when it came to getting David to make a commitment. Dolores had spent much of the previous season claiming she was not only ready for David to propose to her but that she was expecting it, and she would not move in with him until she has that commitment. When he didn't propose by the time filming began again, her castmates were confused about why she stayed and accused her of settling for less than what she wants. She claimed she no longer wanted to be engaged and that she was content with where her relationship was at the time.
There are now rumors that Dolores allegedly broke up with David after four years of being together. As Reality Blurb reports, Instagram page Bravo and Cocktails posted screenshots of their DMs on their Story from people claiming that Dolores and David broke up. One DM claimed Dolores broke up with him before going to film the RHONJ cast trip to Nashville, which featured the significant others of the other ladies. As always, her ex-husband, Frank Catania, was also on the trip. Another DM claimed to come from a friend of one of David's co-workers. The co-worker alleged that David opened up to them during a work function and confirmed the break-up rumors. Both the DMs claimed that Dolores was the one who allegedly ended the relationship.
Fans of Dolores and RHONJ in general have never really gotten to know David as a person, or David and Dolores as a couple. David is a doctor, and often times during filming, he is unable to attend a majority of the events Dolores goes to. This was a big point of contention in their relationship, with Dolores asking him to make a greater effort to make an appearance at her friends' events, if only to get them off her back. Another sign their relationship was on the rocks came this past season when David expressed his disapproval of Dolores getting plastic surgery. His problem with it was that Dolores didn't tell him about her plans to get surgery. But Dolores claimed that since he hasn't made a commitment to her, she doesn't have to answer to him.
With these new rumors of an alleged break-up between Dolores and David, fans are hoping for her to reunite with her ex-husband, Frank. Is it possible that the two will finally give fans what they've been asking for since Dolores' first season?
