During The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 12 reunion, Dolores Catania’s ex-husband, Frank Catania, said her boyfriend, Paul, Connell looks like Buzz Lightyear, and Paul’s reaction was hilarious. Reportedly, Dolores met Paul, who is the owner of an electric company in New York City, through a friend. The two hit it off and were inseparable. Dolores and Paul became Instagram official on Valentine’s Day this past February.
RHONJ fans were a bit saddened to hear that Dolores’ previous relationship with David Principe didn’t work out. David was featured in past seasons, but Dolores revealed in RHONJ season 12 that they had broken up. Dolores and David struggled to be on the same page throughout their relationship. David, who is a high-risk obstetrician, didn’t have enough time for Dolores, who wanted more of a commitment. David also seemed to spend more time with Frank and even let him stay at his house to recuperate after surgery.
When Andy Cohen brought the husbands out at the RHONJ season 12 reunion, the conversation turned towards Dolores and her new boyfriend, Paul. Andy asked Frank what he thought of him, and he said, “He looks like Buzz Lightyear.” When asked by the Instagram account @theholybravo what he thought about that comment, Paul responded, “I was kind of sad!! TBH. Now everyone knows I’m a real superhero.” RHONJ fans applauded him for his sense of humor and begged him to get along with Frank, who is a fan-favorite.
Dolores’ reaction to Frank’s comment wasn’t so lighthearted during the RHONJ season 12 reunion. She immediately turned around to him and yelled, “You son of a b****!” Frank just laughed it off but then became serious when he explained that he and Paul “don’t see eye to eye” on his relationship with Dolores. Frank and Dolores have been divorced for over 20 years due to his infidelity while she was pregnant with their son, Frankie. The two managed to remain close and have an unconventional relationship that Frank revealed made Paul uncomfortable. Frank shared that he reached out to Paul to talk things out, but he hasn't received any response back from him.
Frank recently shared that he and Paul are in a better place now and have made headways with each other. RHONJ fans were amazed at how David seemed so comfortable with Dolores and Frank’s close relationship. Oftentimes, David wasn’t able to come to RHONJ events, and Dolores brought Frank along as her plus-one. Frank even joined Dolores on many cast trips, cementing his role as one of the “househusbands” of RHONJ. It seems as if Paul had a hard time with their unconventional relationship. During the reunion, Dolores said Paul just needed time to be secure in their newfound romance and hopefully fans will see the handsome Irishman make an appearance on The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
