The ladies of The Real Housewives of Dubai all have polarizing personalities, but Chanel Ayan and Caroline Stanbury are proving that opposites do not attract. RHODubai is just one episode in, and fans love getting to know the new housewives. In the season 1 premiere, Nina Ali gave a breakdown of the friend dynamics within the group. She shared that she is very close with Caroline Stanbury, but the former Ladies of London star does not get along with Lesa Milan and Chanel Ayan.
Chanel Ayan confirmed Nina’s take on her and Caroline’s relationship. She confessed in the first episode that she had met Caroline a few times but felt that their “energy did not match.” She went on to say that while Caroline was friendly with the other RHODubai ladies, she felt a cold vibe from Caroline. Chanel shared that she found it “weird” because they both have friends in common and she proclaimed herself to be “f****** amazing.”
Nina attempted to bring the RHODubai ladies together during an elegant dinner. When Chanel sat down at the table, she immediately began boasting about how beautiful she looked. Later, in a confessional, Caroline said to her dog, “You’re good-looking. Would you tell people how good-looking you are before you sit down? No. He’s polite.” Chanel, who proclaims to be the first Black supermodel in Dubai, readily calls herself “fabulous” at any given time. Meanwhile, Caroline, who is from England, has a more self-deprecating sense of humor and therefore seems put off by Chanel’s boastful nature.
Caroline, who was getting ready to marry her now-husband Sergio Carrallo during RHODubai season 1, brought up her recent bachelorette party during Nina’s dinner. Chanel was not invited to the party, and when the other housewives talked about it, she was quick to shut the conversation down. She asked why they were talking about something she was “not a part of,” and said she “didn’t care.” Caroline reminded her that she wasn’t invited and proceeded to tell the group that she couldn’t “bear this woman.”
Chanel, who is fabulous in her own right, seems to want to be in the center of attention. As a supermodel, she is used to photographers and designers fawning all over her. Caroline also runs with an elite crowd and was linked to Prince Andrew and Hugh Grant. However, she is much more reserved than Chanel and doesn’t brag about how fabulous she is. Caroline later attributed her and Chanel’s differences to the two just being different characters. During the dinner party, she cited her English background as the reason she managed to keep her cool. The Real Housewives of Dubai only just started so hopefully fans will see Chanel and Caroline eventually find common footing this season.
