After Kelly Dodd from Real Housewives of Orange County wore a cap to a bridal shower that read "Drunk Wives Matter", she is semi-apologizing for her hat choice.

Kelly Dodd was first introduced to the RHOC scene when she joined The Real Housewives of Orange County season 11. The reality star has always had mixed reviews from fans. Some absolutely love her and others feel the opposite way about her. Kelly is known for being very outspoken. She has unfiltered opinions and doesn't seem to really care what other people think about her statements. Although Kelly Dodd is so unfiltered, it's still a surprise that she would make a joke that uses the Black Lives Matter movement as a play on words.

According to Page Six, the reality star took to Twitter to post a statement apologizing for wearing the "Drunk Wives Matter" cap to a recent bridal showers.“Over the weekend at my bridal shower I got lots of gifts and briefly displayed them,” Kelly began in her statement. “One was a hat with a play on words since I’m about to be a wife, I’m on a Housewives TV show and might be drunk once in a while." She continued, “It was not intended to offend or make any kind of statement,”. She concluded her statement by saying,  “Of course I support black lives and racial equality! Thank you all Love, Kelly.” See her post below:

While Kelly did post a statement explaining why she wore the hat and her support for racial equality, she still didn't apologize for the insensitive words her hat had written on it. Kelly Dodd probably should have apologized instead of talking about her bridal shower. See a post of Kelly all masked up below:

This is not the first incident this year when Kelly made an insensitive remark. Earlier this spring, Kelly stated that the coronavirus pandemic was "God's way of thinning the herd". She later compared the deadly virus to the flu and claiming the virus basically did not exist where she lives in Orange County while out to dinner with her family. She posted the video on her social media saying ,“No one is wearing masks here in Orange County. Yup, because nobody is dying here of the virus,” with waiters in the background visibly wearing masks. Not mention she claimed back in June that she has “experienced racism” as a “woman of color”. Kelly Dodd stated this after comments she made on TMZ in 2o16 resurfaced of her saying, “I don’t like black guys. I don’t even know any black guys.”

While Kelly Dodd from RHOC does have some qualities about her that make her likable, such as her confidence. Unfortunately, she clearly does not seem to care about the well-being of others. Wearing that cap isn't a funny play on words, but displays of lack of empathy and lack of support towards the Black Lives Matter movement. Comparing Covid-19 to the flu and not wearing a mask shows a lack of compassion for the people struggling with the disease or have died from it. Hopefully, she puts in the work and learns more about the BLM movement and the dangers of Covid-19.
