The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna is in hot water after fans accused her of profiting off her mother's death by promoting a lipstick color named after her. Lisa launched her makeup line, Rinna Beauty, in November 2020. The beauty line features lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip kits in an array of colors. The brand also sells lip enhancers. Lisa herself has been open about getting lip fillers and has joked in the past that her lips have had a career of their own.
Earlier in November, Lisa revealed to fans that her mother, Lois, had suffered a stroke. Lois had appeared on the show a few times, and fans and fellow cast members really enjoyed her presence. Lisa also revealed that this wasn't her mother's first stroke as she also suffered one in 2013. The initial stroke altered her mother's life, and she needed to relearn how to walk and talk. On November 15th, Lisa's daughter, Amelia Hamlin, shared on Instagram that her grandmother had passed away. Lisa also shared a tribute to her mother on Instagram following Amelia's post.
On Sunday night, the Rinna Beauty Instagram account shared a one-time offer on a red lipstick named "I Love Lois." The caption said, "Last chance to get a free I Love Lois Lipstick with every order!" The image revealed the red lipstick smeared across a black background along with the words "Because we ALL love Lois." Fans, unfortunately, did not respond well to the lipstick post and accused the reality tv star of trying to profit off of her mother.
Although the lipstick was free, fans still felt she was trying to cash in on her mother's death because, in order to receive the lipstick, fans still had to make a purchase. Fans in the comment section were brutal and didn't hold back, calling the business move "unbelievably disrespectful and repulsive" and "incredibly bad taste." However, some fans did support Lisa's efforts. Some nicer fans simply commented heart emojis and expressed how much they loved and will miss Lois.
Though everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it seems the fans may have been a bit harsh. Everyone mourns in different ways, and Lisa likely just wanted to do something special to honor her mother given how close they were. Also, Lois was always seemingly overly supportive of her daughter's business ventures and success and having watched her on the show over the years, would probably have reveled in having a lipstick named after her. Since she knew how much fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills enjoyed when her mother was on the show, she probably just wanted them to join in on honoring Lois. People on social media can be pretty harsh, but hopefully, Lisa hasn't let any of the backlash get her down and will continue to honor her mother however she pleases.
