The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Crystal Minkoff questioned if it was appropriate for Kathy Hilton to request a Michael Jackson song at the club in Aspen, but fans completely disagree with her claims that Kathy's actions were problematic. The Aspen saga continues, as most people have settled on the theory that the DJ refusing to play Michael's song "Billie Jean" is what set Kathy off and not her RHOBH cast members refusing to do a conga line with her. The truth came out when Teddi Mellencamp mentioned it on her podcast, saying she's not sure why Sutton Stracke said a conga line was to blame.
The RHOBH star's outburst was unfortunately not caught on camera, which means fans may never know the truth and can only rely on what cast members tell them. In the most recent episode of the show, the stars were discussing the Aspen incident when Crystal expressed that she would not have asked the DJ to play "Billie Jean." Her costars were shocked, but in her confessional, she explained that she's not surprised her costars didn't know that requesting Michael's music is problematic these days. Michael was accused of molesting several young boys starting in 1993, but he was never found guilty. The accusations were brought to light again in 2019 when HBO released Leaving Neverland.
However, many fans of the King of Pop have stuck by his side, including some RHOBH fans who couldn't agree less with Crystal's statement. Twitter user @_MANDONNA_ reshared the RHOBH clip and wrote, "I was starting to like you Crystal, but I will have No Michael Jackson slander on my timeline. #RHOBH #RHOBHMeanGirls." The RHOBH fan's perspective was shared by many other fans who don't believe listening to Michael's music is wrong and think Kathy had every right to request his 1982 song.
RHOBH Fans Are Standing By Michael Jackson's Side
"When did WE stop listening to Michael Jackson?" user @BlaqueAbo tweeted, while @BaconBitsPlease on Twitter wrote, "Requesting Michael Jackson is problematic?!?! Who said that?! I'm confused." Despite the accusations against the King of Pop, many believe he was completely innocent, and that the accusers were making up false stories for money and attention. This is something Kathy claimed herself in 2013 when Wade Robson filed a lawsuit against Jackson's estate claiming Michael had assaulted him, despite previously claiming Michael never touched him.
It seems Crystal is alone in her claims that listening to Michael's music is problematic, and she's making a few enemies with RHOBH fans because of her opinion. Every pop star has devoted fans willing to go to battle for them, but when it comes to the most iconic pop star of all time, those fans will fight in the trenches for their idol. Crystal should certainly be careful what she says because now that she's on RHOBH fans' bad side, she'll have to work extra hard to win their forgiveness. The RHOBH star should certainly be careful what she says about the King of Pop.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
