Country singer and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills super-fan Maren Morris appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to discuss the rumored affair between Denise Richards and Brandi Glanville. But who is Maren Morris? Let’s get to know the Grammy-winning singer.
The Texas native was born in 1990 and is now 30-years-old. She is a singer, songwriter, and record producer. Morris’s first EP, titled Maren Morris, was released in 2015 and went viral on Spotify. After being signed with Columbia Nashville, that first EP was rereleased with the track “My Church” as the lead single. The song reached the top five on the US Hot Country Songs chart and peaked at number one on the Country Digital Songs chart in 2016. The same year, she released her first major studio album, called Hero, and went on tour with country star Keith Urban.
Hero marked a new level of success for Morris. She was nominated for four Grammys in 2016, including Best New Artist. Although she lost that category to Chance The Rapper, “My Church” won the Best Country Solo Performance award. Hero was nominated for Best Country Album, and “My Church” was also nominated for Best Country Song. Reality TV fan Morris also won the Breakthrough Star Award from Billboard's Women in Music the same year. In 2017, Morris started her Hero tour, and a deluxe version of the album was released later that year. She was also able to join country star Sam Hunt on his 2017 tour. Morris was featured on One Direction’s Niall Horan’s first solo album later in 2017, on the song, “Seeing Blind.” She joined Horan on his 2018 tour as the opening act.
In January of 2018, this talented Real Housewives of Beverly Hills superfan collaborated with Zedd and Grey (called “The Middle”) was released. The song became her first big pop hit and broke the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The success of “The Middle” and “Seeing Blind” gave her much more notoriety outside of the country music genre. Morris joined Taylor Swift onstage during the Reputation tour, to perform “The Middle” in her hometown of Arlington, Texas. She released her second studio album, GIRL, in March 2019, and embarked on a worldwide tour to support the album. Morris also announced that she would be forming a group called The Highwomen, with singers Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby. They have since released a single called “Redesigning Women” that reached the top ten on the Billboard Top 100 chart.
Morris is married to fellow country singer Ryan Hurd. They have a son named Hayes who was born in March 2020. While she is a huge fan of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she has admitted that she doesn’t watch any of the other Real Housewives shows. The most recent time she appeared on Watch What Happens Live, Morris gave her thoughts on the drama unfolding between Brandi Glanville and Denise Richards. Rumors that Glanville and Richards were having an affair have been circulating for months, but Glanville finally spilled the beans on this week’s episode. She told housewives Teddi Mellencamp and Kyle Richards details about how she and Denise Richards hooked up... and continued to get drunk together... and get intimate. She expressed that she thought Richard’s husband, Aaron Pyphers, knew about the affair and was fine with it. On Watch What Happens Live, Morris and fashion designer Dorit Kemsley shared their opinions about Brandi’s revelation. Both Morris and Kemsley stated that they thought Glanville was being honest. Morris said, “You saw [Brandi] shaking. I have to assume she’s telling the truth because she really looked like she was going to throw up about to say that to the girls.” She summed up, “It’s shocking and I think she’s being honest.”
The drama continues to unfold on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and in the press, as Denise Richards claims that her marriage is monogamous and that she never had an affair with Glanville.
