Porsha Williams opened up about her tough time after getting divorced, revealing she was homeless for a short time afterwards while filming her early seasons of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Porsha joined the show in season 5 with her then-husband, Kordell Stewart, as newlyweds. Fans of the show will remember the marriage as a not-so-happy one, with many visible red flags. Porsha's co-stars and fans alike were concerned Portia was in a controlling relationship. Oftentimes, Porsha had to ask permission from Kordell to hang out with the other women and attend events, which would be filmed for the show. The couple got divorced in 2013 before filming for RHOA season 6 began, with Kordell surprising Porsha by filing for divorce in between the two seasons.
Since her first season as a housewife, Porsha has become a fan-favorite and has had a lot of major life moments documented on the show. Porsha had a baby with her then-fiancé, Dennis McKinley, in early 2019. However, her relationship with Dennis did not make it in the long run. She has since gotten engaged to Simon Goubadia after a whirlwind romance--and not without some drama, of course. Most notably, Porsha became extremely active in the Black Lives Matter movement. After the death of George Floyd, Porsha attended many protests in various cities and even got arrested at a few of them. She was also very outspoken on social media and on her various other platforms about her views, which led to an outpouring of supportive messages from her fans.
Porsha is now opening up about a time in her life when she was in the most amount of pain and how proud she is that she was able to get through it. In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir The Pursuit of Porsha, as shared by Worthy Publishing, she opened up about being homeless and how she felt after her husband filed for divorce. In one section of her book, she revealed she was homeless while appearing on RHOA, but she's not ashamed of it. She is proud to be able to rise above it all, following up her revelation by saying she now has two successful businesses and is the host of two talk shows. She acknowledged that she doesn't regret going through all the tough times because it helped shape the person she is today, and she likes who she is now. Porsha said she believes now is the right time to share her story because she thinks it can help others who are in the situation she was in, and if she is able to do that, then she knows everything she went through had a purpose.
In chapter one of her memoir, Porsha went into detail about her childhood and her early battles with depression before she knew it was depression. She said she spent a lot of time alone as child daydreaming in her room, except when she was playing with her brother. She recalled always feeling a certain sadness and pain, which she was ashamed to share with even those closest to her. Porsha said this was when she got good at hiding how she really felt, a skill which came in handy when her husband Kordell suddenly filed for divorce. When she got the news, she was at the Bravo Upfronts promoting her first season of RHOA. She found it ironic that she was invited to appear as a housewife when she secretly no longer had a house or a husband and therefore was no longer a wife. She used her skills at hiding her feelings in order to answer the interview questions but finally faced her pain when it was all over. Porsha was finally able to identify her depression and deal with it.
Porsha has gone through so much during her time as a housewife and before, so it is natural for fans to want the best for her now. While Porsha claims to be, and looks, happy with her new fiancé, Simon, there is concern over his intentions. Considering the controversy surrounding the beginnings of their relationship, is it justifiable for fans to show concern over their engagement? It will be interesting to see how heavily Simon is featured on The Real Housewives of Atlanta next season if Porsha chooses to return.
