Kandi Burruss, singer, songwriter, and reality star from The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Kandi & The Gang has responded to a video of Russell Spencer, her ex-boyfriend, discussing paying child support to her. Burruss and Spencer started dating in the early 2000s and dated for a few months. The relationship ended after Burruss realized that Spencer was in a relationship with another woman, with whom he had children. When the relationship ended, Spencer claims that Burruss was trying to be a homewrecker and he also said that Burruss was his "side chick." So, though she was pregnant with his child, her relationship with Spencer and his girlfriend became strained.

After dating Spencer, who is also known as Block, Burruss was in a long-term relationship with Ashley "AJ" Jewell, and AJ was playing the role of Riley's dad as she had an estranged relationship with Spencer. AJ and Burruss were planning on getting married but the couple separated amid the wedding planning, but remained good friends. Shortly after the break-up, AJ sustained a head injury during a fight and passed away. Burruss' next relationship was with Todd Tucker, who she met while filming season 4 of RHOA. The two have now been married for 8 years and Tucker became Riley's main father figure. In addition to Riley and Todd's daughter, Kaela Tucker, Burruss, and Tucker welcomed Blaze and Ace Tucker to their family.

Spencer recently did an interview with DJ Vlad on VladTV and during the interview, Spencer discussed his child support payments to Burruss. Clips from the interview were posted to The Shaderoom, a social media outlet, on April 6, and in the video, Spencer spoke on the accusations from Burruss that he has failed to pay child support. "How do you have more money than me, [my other children’s] mom, and you put me on child support," he said. Burruss has accused and asked Spencer to pay $92,000 in child support for Riley. When the clip of Spencer surfaced on social media, Burruss posted a quoted image on her Instagram story that said, "I don't care how well I'm doing. I still need that money you owe me," followed by her own words that said, "Don't BLOCK your blessings not doing right by your children." When Burruss had first caught wind of the video at the beginning of April, she took to Twitter to explain that Riley was requesting the money as she is preparing to go to college, and so, Burruss was requesting the funds on behalf of Riley, according to The Shaderoom.

In the video, Spencer also shared that he felt Riley was jealous of his relationship with his other children who lived with him. He said, "Every last one of my kids lives with me from when they’re born until they graduate except Kandi. I've got an accomplished name and a lot of stuff.  And I think it’s a lot of jealousy because Riley wasn’t in that situation because her mom put me on child support." But, as seen in earlier seasons of RHOA, despite child support issues, Burruss hoped Riley would have a relationship with Spencer because she did not want Riley to have a strained relationship with her father like she did. Nevertheless, Burruss never forced Riley to spend time with her father as Riley had felt and understood the estrangement from a young age. Spencer says that he and Riley are currently in a good place, but Riley also reacted to the clips on The Shaderoom and requested that her father left her and her mother alone. Regarding the statements about her jealousy, Riley said, "I was blessed to be raised in a household where my mom provided the best life I could have. No jealousy here."

Burruss did not dwell on the situation for too long and was back to sharing videos of a food spread her and her family were enjoying while on vacation. Based on Burruss' Instagram posts, she is currently on vacation with her family and Sanya Richards-Ross, the newest housewife to join The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast. Season 14 of RHOA will return to Bravo on May 1 and Burruss' new reality show, Kandi & The Gang is still in its first season and is airing on Bravo.
