WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Disney's awards season campaign page for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has released new images from the film, including Rey and Kylo Ren's epic battle in Snoke's throne room. While it hasn't received quite the box office reception of its predecessor The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi is no question a major blockbuster, having earned more than $220 million domestically in its opening weekend in mid-December, and quickly moved on to earn more than $517 million stateside and $1 billion globally by year's end.

As much attention as fans worldwide have given The Last Jedi, one area where the film has been lacking is on the awards circuit. With the secrecy surrounding the film and screenings taking place mere days before its December 15 release, the film missed out on opportunities to campaign in earnest for such awards competition as the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Movie Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The film's release before the end of the year, however, qualified it for a run at the 90th annual Academy Awards, and to get Oscar voters' attention, new images from the film have been released on Disney's awards site. And while some of the images seem familiar because they are essentially shots from footage released in the film's trailers, others are much more revealing and definitely enter spoiler territory for prospective audience members who haven't seen The Last Jedi.

Perhaps the most spoiler-filled shot in the batch of new photos is of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in Supreme Leader Snoke's (Andy Serkis) throne room, where - in a seemingly conscious move to save Rey and turn away from the dark side of the Force - Kylo kills his master. But the dispatching of Snoke was only the beginning of a deadly encounter in the throne room, as Kylo and Rey teamed together to face off against the evil leader's praetorian guards, which is depicted in the new image.

It shouldn't come as a huge surprise that Disney and Lucasfilm are releasing new, more revealing images from The Last Jedi, since the production is no longer bound to keeping a lid on some of the film's bigger plot points. While some of the other new images aren't quite as revealing, it is nice to see another new shot of Carrie Fisher in her final film role as the venerable General Leia. With Oscar nominations still a few weeks away, it will be interesting to see what other previously unreleased images and footage the production will let loose to attract the attention of prospective voters.
