Many exciting TV shows feature characters who want revenge on those who did them harm. Revenge takes this one notch further as Amanda Clarke (Emily VanCamp) says that her name is Emily Thorne and goes to the Hamptons so she can hurt the family who put her father in prison.

Revenge is one of those TV dramas with an excellent pilot and strong first season that seems to veer off course at various points before the series finale. There are quite a few plotlines that could have been swapped for something more interesting and dramatic.

Daniel Dates Sara Again To Upset Emily

Daniel Grayson revenge

Emily Thorne and Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman) don't have the best relationship, especially since she's mostly faking her feelings for him. In the third season episode "Hatred," Daniel dates a waitress named Sara (Annabelle Stephenson) because he wants to upset Emily.

This was not only a really immature thing to do but didn't make much sense, either. Just a little while before this, Daniel tried to murder Emily, so it was confusing for him to move between love and hatred so much.

Charlotte's Boyfriend Gideon Cheats On Her

revenge Charlotte Grayson

Revenge characters don't make the best decisions when it comes to love and Charlotte (Christa B. Allen) doesn't really know who is best for her, either. But when she dates Gideon (Daniel Zovatto) and he cheats on her, it feels pretty lame.

This is a series of small and big tragedies that happen to Charlotte before she goes to rehab in season four, and it feels like it just didn't need to happen. She gets kidnapped, which is a much more important storyline, so the cheating could have been omitted.

Ashley And Daniel Date In Season 2

revenge Ashley Davenport

Ashley Davenport isn't the most intelligent character on the show, and it was pretty boring to watch her and Daniel date at the start of the second season.

Ashley is a classic social climber who gets into the Grayson's tony universe so she can make her own wealthy dreams come true, but she's not a very original character. It didn't seem like Daniel needed to move on so fast from Emily, and Daniel and Ashley had zero chemistry.

Emily Isn't Sure If Nolan Can Be Trusted

Nolan Ross revenge

The setting of a film or TV series is always a big deal, and in the case of Revenge, Emily/Amanda spends all of her time in beautiful houses and restaurants and other locations in the Hamptons. She has one major ally, Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann), and the two are often sneaking around together.

In the season one episode "Loyalty," Emily is upset because she doesn't think that she can trust Nolan, and this seems like a really unnecessary storyline. Nolan is the only pal that Emily has, and it would have been better if the two hadn't experienced any tension so early on in the show. Emily is at odds with enough characters.

Margaux And Gideon Circle Each Other As They Both Want To Be CEO

Revenge is supposed to focus on Emily's plan and yet Margaux (Karine Vanasse) has a plan of her own. This character seems too much like Emily so she's not one of the most compelling of the minor characters.

Margaux and Gideon are fighting over being CEO of LeMarchal Media. Margaux already holds this position, but Gideon would love nothing more than to take her place. It's dull to watch as these are two minor players on the show and the focus should always be on Emily.

Emily And Aiden Work Together In Season 2

In the second season, Emily works with Aiden (Barry Sloane) as he has some revenge that he wants to enact as well. But the two fall for each other and it gets very messy and confusing.

Trying to follow this storyline is difficult as it's not clear-cut. It also seems strange to give Emily another love interest, since fans know that she's really in love with her childhood friend Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler). It would have been a lot more interesting if she had been working with him.

Victoria Sees Her Ex, Dominik Wright

Victoria Grayson revenge

In the season one episode "Doubt," Victoria spends time with her ex, Dominik Wright (James Purefoy), and it didn't seem like this character needed to return.

It's clear from the pilot that Victoria and Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny) don't have a real marriage and that they don't love each other, so it felt like overkill to have Victoria think about someone who she used to date.

Victoria's Son Comes Back

An unnecessary storyline includes when Victoria's son Patrick (Justin Hartley), who she decided to give up when she was younger, comes back to see her.

This felt inappropriate from the start as they acted really strangely between each other and seemed much closer than a mother and son should be. It was okay to learn that Victoria had this tragedy in her past, but this character didn't need to return.

Conrads Think That He Has A Serious Illness

revenge Conrad Grayson

In the third season, Conrad thinks that he has a serious illness as Emily got into a computer and said that he had Huntington's Disease. He learns that he doesn't actually have this.

Sure, it makes sense that Emily wants to ruin the Graysons and will do anything possible to make it happen, but the fact that Conrad learns the truth made this a silly storyline. Why even introduce it in the first place?

Daniel Suggests Eloping And Fights With Emily

Emily Daniel Revenge - Worst TV Weddings

Emily and Daniel's wedding would clearly be a huge deal, so it didn't make sense that Daniel would suggest eloping (especially in Paris). He knows that he's a member of the Grayson family which means that he has to do everything right, including having a huge lavish gathering.

It never rings true when Daniel acts like he doesn't care what his parents think or when he tries to move away from them. He's just as evil as his father, and he would never really elope.
