The dress given to Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) by the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi spawned an interesting but disturbing Star Wars fan theory. The moment occurred when Leia assisted the Rebel Alliance on a ground assault at Endor in an effort to deactivate the deflector shields linked to the second Death Star. With a stolen speeder bike, Leia and her brother, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), embarked on a chase with Imperial scout troopers. Leia was thrown from the vehicle, leaving her unconscious until Wicket W. Warrick discovered her. He took her back to the Ewok village, where she would go on to reunite with Luke, Chewbacca, and the others ahead of the big battle of Endor.

Aside from Leia's tenacity and penchant for change, the character was synonymous with her various hairstyles and outfits in the original Star Wars trilogy. While on Endor, Leia wore a camo parka-like jacket, which sequel trilogy actor and daughter of Fisher, Billie Lourd, honored in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Leia's other iconic outfits included her white dress from A New Hope, the snow gear in Hoth during The Empire Strikes Back, and the controversial metal bikini worn in Return of the Jedi.

After arriving on Endor in her Rebel Alliance camo gear, Leia was later shown wearing an earth-tone dress while in the Ewok village. For a long time following Return of the Jedi's 1983 release, there was a mystery regarding where and how the princess of Alderaan obtained the new outfit. She certainly didn't travel to the forest moon with multiple outfits while on her special mission. Granted, some of the mystery was solved thanks to Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. The "Ewok Escape" episode added more insight into Leia and Wicket's travels back to Bright Tree Village, when they rescued two other Ewoks from stormtroopers. For her help, the Ewoks gifted her the dress as a token of their appreciation. How the village obtained a human female's dress remained a mystery, culminating in a fan theory with a disturbing connection to Ewoks' behavior.

Leia gets given her gown by the Ewok village in Forces Of Destiny

Though this isn't a new fan theory, the particular Star Wars discussion has returned after Hamill weighed in on Leia's Return of the Jedi dress. The theory itself suggested the cute little creatures had the adult female dress because they had a tendency to hunt and eat humans. Before they could do the same to Leia, she helped them, proving she wasn't an enemy. This evidence fell in line with the fact that the villagers were ready to feast on her friends if it wasn't for C-3PO being mistaken for a god and Luke showcasing his Jedi "magic." It seemed like they had rare instances of human interaction, which made their possession of the dress even more of a head-scratcher.

Some have tried to debunk the disturbing Star Wars theory by arguing how the Ewoks could have made the dress themselves out of materials on Endor. That then brought up the question of why they would make a human-sized dress in the first place. Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and the sequel, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, centered on a family stuck on Endor after their ship crash-landed. Despite being deemed non-canon, it brought up the possibility of other humans crash-landing or even living on Endor. During interactions, the Ewoks could have taken the article of clothing. Still, with the details unconfirmed, it's hard not to think the worst when it comes to Leia's Return of the Jedi dress.
