The first footage for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City arrives offering the first look at the zombie dogs for the survival horror film. The latest film in the horror franchise will serve as a reboot to the Constantin Films-produced series, itself based on Capcom's celebrated video games of the same name. The plot revolves around a group of survivors heading into Raccoon City to learn the secrets behind a deadly virus that has been unleashed upon the world and its ties to the malevolent Umbrella Corporation.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City includes a roster of characters from the video games including Kaya Scodelairo as Claire Redfield, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Lily Gao as Ada Wong, Neal McDonough as Dr. William Birkin and Donal Logue as Police Chief Brian Irons. The film hails from 47 Meters Down director Johannes Roberts, who is also writing the script after taking over the position from Mortal Kombat's Greg Russo. Production on the film ran from October to December 2020 and following multiple COVID-19-related delays in its release, the film is set to hit theaters this November.

The zombie dogs of the Resident Evil games are some of the more fan-favorite enemies in Capcom's franchise, namely for the iconic jump scare delivered by them in the original 1996 title. The first look at the zombified dogs seem to point towards a bulkier version of the animals than that of the games and Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil films, as well as a CGI depiction versus the practical ones seen in the first film. Though the latter element may disappoint some viewers, the gruesome visual design for the dogs are sure to still prove an exciting firs tease for fans.

Additionally, the first footage for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City seemingly offers a glimpse at another fan-favorite antagonist, Lisa Trevor. Roberts has been very outspoken about his efforts to better expand her character from the games as well as tap into the horror elements of the source material versus the action heavy nature of Anderson's films, all of which Trevor's brief appearance certainly invokes. Only time will tell when the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer drops tomorrow.
