Resident Evil Village continues the story of Ethan Winters, this time taking him to a misty European village filled with horrors. Unlike the recent remakes, Resident Evil 8 puts players into first-person but seems to be doubling down on puzzle elements and exploration.

During the January Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom surprised fans with an exclusive PS5 demo called The Maiden. Capcom was quick to note another, meatier demo would launch before the release of the full game.

While Capcom didn't say exactly what would be in the second demo, it will be more indicative of the full experience with combat, exploration, etc. Of course, fans are probably wondering when they can get their hands on said demo.

Resident Evil Village's Second Demo Release Date

The Maiden demo is now available for free on PS5, and it features roughly 20-30 minutes of simple gameplay. There's no combat in the demo, and The Maiden serves as more of a "mood piece" showing off the graphical power of Resident Evil Village. The second more typical demo doesn't have a firm release date as of yet, but the game's producer Pete Fabiano said it will be out sometime this Spring.

That's pretty unspecific, but considering the game launches on May 7, fans can most likely expect the second demo to drop sometime in April. It's unlikely that Capcom would put the demo out earlier, as the company will want to keep interest high between the demo and the full release. For example, another big game, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, released its demo roughly a month before release.

Capcom has provided plenty of details on Resident Evil Village so far, noting that it directly follows-up on the events of Resident Evil 7. The game will have a much larger emphasis on exploration, however, as well as inventory management. To facilitate that, the attache case from Resident Evil 4 makes a return again, as well as the mysterious merchant, who takes on a much different form this time around. A brand new multiplayer experience called RE: Verse will launch alongside Resident Evil Village, free to any owners of the new game. The multiplayer title brings together characters and creatures from across the franchise, and sports a colorful, if not strange looking, comic book art style.

Resident Evil Village launches on May 7, 2021, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
