AMD recently hosted a stream showing off the power of the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card; in so doing, the company unveiled a closer look at a Resident Evil Village setting with ray tracing enabled. Thanks to Capcom's incredible RE Engine, the eighth mainline Resident Evil entry is already set to impress in the graphics department.

Based on what the publisher has shown of RE Village gameplay, thus far, the first-person horror title will be filled to the brim with detail. This much seems evident in the free Maiden demo for PlayStation 5, which allows players to briefly explore the mansion where the alluring Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters reside. It's clear the newest consoles from Microsoft and Sony have given Capcom developers plenty of freedom with which to further explore their technical prowess. With that in mind, who knows what they may accomplish with AMD's latest high-end graphics card at their fingertips?

During a recent stream centered around the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card, AMD showcased a few games that will support both ray tracing and AMD FidelityFX - Resident Evil Village counted among them. The quick look didn't last very long, but it worked wonders in showing the difference that ray tracing makes in terms of visual quality. Of course, Resident Evil Village will likely prove a showstopper regardless, but ray tracing on top of AMD FidelityFX seems as though it will magnify the already intense atmosphere tenfold.

The AMD video is the closest look fans have gotten of RE Village in action in well over a month. Capcom last showcased the title in late January during a brief online event. Not too long thereafter, leaked boss fight footage made the rounds online, another lingering effect of the Capcom network breach that rocked the publisher last fall.

Like 2017's Resident Evil 7 before it, the forthcoming RE installment is a first-person title starring Ethan Winters. Ethan and his wife are back at the center of the overarching narrative, this time ensnared in circumstances involving werewolves, possible vampire-witch hybrids, and a litany of other horrors that undoubtedly lie in wait. They aren't the only returning characters either, since fan-favorite Chris Redfield is somehow involved this time, as well.
