In a recent interview, Capcom producer Pete Fabiano revealed that thanks to the console's powerful SSD, the PlayStation 5 will pretty much eliminate loading times in Resident Evil Village. Though Capcom announced the title last summer, the publisher just began showcasing it in earnest earlier this year.

Resident Evil Village's first gameplay footage hit the web late last month, for instance, courtesy of the Resident Evil Showcase event. Not too long after the showcase aired, PlayStation 5 players were able to jump into the exclusive Maiden demo, complete with a closer look at the very alluring Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. The online event revealed yet another interesting detail about RE Village's forthcoming release - it's a cross-gen title. While cross-gen releases aren't always able to fully leverage newer hardware, Capcom seems intent on giving owners of the latest consoles some kind of edge.

Speaking with Official PlayStation Magazine (via GamingBolt), Capcom producer Pete Fabiano said the development team is taking advantage of PlayStation 5's SSD by "virtually eliminating load times, [which will allow] players to keep the feeling of immersion." Fabiano additionally noted that PS5's Tempest 3D audio will further immerse users in the survival horror experience in its own right. Thus, RE Village players on Sony's newest console can expect to become "fully bathed in audio from all directions."

What Village Resident Evil 8 is Set In

Apart from previous news regarding features such as native 4K and ray-tracing, little is known about how else Resident Evil Village might leverage the power of the latest consoles from Microsoft and Sony. Notably, Capcom has yet to share details about potential graphics and performance modes. Such information is bound to surface as the horror title's launch date continues to draw near, though.

A sequel to Resident Evil 7, RE Village will once more place players in the role of Ethan Winters. This time, however, Ethan won't only be tasked with painstakingly making his way through a house of horrors, since RE Village is a much larger game with wider areas to explore. And based on what's been shown, thus far, it appears as if the stakes are higher now. Regardless of the finer details, fans are more than likely in for a completely different kind of Resident Evil experience.
