In anticipation of Resident Evil Village’s release on Friday, modders have already enhanced their gameplay demo experiences by replacing the horrific Lady Dimitrescu with something a little more familiar: Thomas the Tank Engine. The latest entry into the Resident Evil series has promised fans more thrills and spills than ever before, with the story of Ethan Winters continuing on after the tumultuous events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

Ahead of the release of Resident Evil Village, Capcom launched several demos. While short, these demos offered players the chance to delve a little deeper into the game's titular Village. The first demo, Village, was cutscene heavy with little in the way of hands-on action save for a few rogue Lycans. The Castle demo, however, allowed players to come face to face with Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters as they tormented Ethan throughout the grand location. Regrettably, the internet’s darling Lady Dimitrescu herself remained mostly out of sight in . Clearly, one player was not happy with the lack of Resident Evil Village’s Tall Vampire Lady though, and as such created a mod that put her into the Village demo instead of her daughters. It could be assumed that this would be plenty to appease the Resident Evil community, but the assumption would be incorrect.

Modder Crazy Potato (via PC Gamer) took the remodeled Lady Dimitrescu enemy from the Resident Evil Village demo and added Thomas the Tank Engine’s face onto the towering figure’s body. The end result may be more disturbing than the regular demo, and it's made even more surreal when combined with the distorted Thomas the Tank Engine theme music that plays as the modded abomination advances menacingly towards Ethan. While many cannot wait to be chased around by Lady Dimitrescu, this is one instance where players would surely turn tail and run as the developers intended.

While certainly horrifying, this is not actually the first mod to swap out Resident Evil Village's attackers with characters from cherished childhood TV shows. Just recently, the castle’s zombie-like maiden enemies were replaced with none other than Barney the Dinosaur. Usually a figure of joy and love, these versions of the beloved purple dino are terrifying as they make their way laughing manically towards the player.

With Resident Evil Village’s release only two days away, these are sure to be far from the last mods that turn the once friendly faces of childhood heroes into the stuff of nightmares. Capcom has curated an already solid lineup of Resident Evil enemies for players to come face to face with in only a couple of days’ time, and there's no telling how many more modders will cook up in the coming months.
