Make sure to use the typewriter in the room before to save the game so you don't have to go through this part and cutscene multiple times. After Ethan crosses the piece of wood and it breaks, a cutscene plays out of Lady Dimtrescu talking to Mother Miranda over the phone before she eventually leaves the room allowing you to sneak inside through the window.
Once inside, it can be confusing at first to know exactly what to do. Both of the doors out of this room are locked from the inside meaning there has to be a way to get out. It's not entirely clear and can be easy to waste your time here but the Dimitrescu key is actually inside this room and if players were paying attention to the cutscene, should know exactly where it is.
Looking back to where Lady Dimitrescu lit a smoking pipe to a torch during the cutscene in the back corner of the room will reveal the Dimitrescu key hanging on the wall closest to the window. Players must simply pick up the key and head out the door where a cutscene will be played.
