The latest free demo for Resident Evil Village contains secret Radiohead Lyrics. These song lyrics have been hidden in the one hour demo, with only the biggest Radiohead and Resident Evil fans being able to find the obscure reference.

Resident Evil Village is the next installment in the Resident Evil franchise for Capcom. This will be the tenth Resident Evil game, taking place after the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. It will follow the same formula as the previous game, using a first-person perspective and pulling various mechanics from older Resident Evil titles. The inventory management from Resident Evil 4 will be returning, along with puzzle mechanics from the earliest titles in the series. The game will be taking place in Transylvania, Romania, with a vampiric motif instead of zombies and mutants. Werewolves are also featured in the trailer, along with mermen and a puppet creature. This game seems to be more fantasy-based than the usual zombie horror genre Resident Evil pulls from.

The discovery of the Radiohead lyrics was first posted to the Resident Evil subreddit by Harry101UK, who discovered the easter egg. According to comments on the post by Harry101UK, they were able to find the bottle with the lyrics written on the side thanks to a mod that allows users to pause the timer in the demo. The Resident Evil Village demo does have a limit on it, with a one-hour timer from the moment the player first starts. This mod was only made possible on the PC demo, however; console players are still forced to adhere to the time limit, which is why this easter egg has only now been discovered following the demo’s release on PC.

The lyrics were hidden pretty well, with the added effect of the graphics not looking too great when zoomed in on, even with maxed out settings and ray tracing. For players who would want to seek out the easter egg themselves, it is located in the truck garage at the end of the demo. It can be reached without the timer pausing mod if players are familiar enough with the demo to reach this point in the allotted time.

This is only the second musical easter egg in the franchise; several Queen songs have been mentioned previously in the Resident Evil universe. Both Chris and Claire Redfield have had alternative outfits named “Made in Heaven” for Chris and “Let Me Live” for Claire, both named after Queen songs.

The Resident Evil Village demo is a timed release, only being available from May 1 to May 9 on PC. Console versions of the demo will be available through May 9, matching the duration of the PC demo. The full game will be released on May 7 for PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and Google Stadia. Hopefully players will have many more easter eggs to look forward to when they get access to the full title.
