Resident Evil Village is now close to release, and after several demos and trailers showcasing the snowy and rural horrors Ethan Winters is set to endure, numerous enemies have been introduced. Some, such as the towering and bewitching Lady Dimitrescu, have intrigued players with their designs, while others have already struck fear into the hearts of many.

Capcom has been releasing new details about Resident Evil Village in the run up to its release, and this has included some closer looks at what sort of enemies Ethan will be battling against. The most highly publicized so far has been Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. The latest Castle demo showed off the truly horrifying way that the daughters can split into a swarm of angry insects at will, which will lacerate Ethan’s skin and crawl around underneath the surface. They also have a considerable blood lust and will bite straight down onto Ethan’s neck. Lady Dimitrescu herself has also been confirmed as being a Stalker-like enemy in Resident Evil Village, much like that of Mr. X from Resident Evil 2. But there are more who will be joining Lady Dimitrescu on her quest to make Ethan Winters’ life as miserable, and as short, as possible.

During the Castle demo for Resident Evil Village, players encountered zombie-like creatures that roam the establishment's dungeon-esque cellar. These enemies fought with a variety of melee weapons, such as swords, and after a certain one of them is slain by Ethan, players will have the option of collecting “Ingrid’s Necklace” from the corpse. This necklace is the same one that appeared in the Resident Evil Village Maiden demo earlier this year, implying that these zombie-like creatures are the former maidens of Lady Dimitrescu. In trailers for the game, the castle also seems to have winged enemies that fly over the rooftops and attack Ethan when he is in the open. However, the castle is but one location within Resident Evil Village's sprawling map.

Resident Evil Village: Lords, Ladies, & Lycans

Resident Evil Village Aquatic Beast

In the earlier Village demo for Resident Evil 8, players faced Lycans. According to fantasy lore, Lycans are similar to werewolves, but are a more advanced species. Unlike werewolves, Lycans usually can transform at will, and generally remain more man than wolf in appearance. The Lycans within Resident Evil Village are shown to be swift and agile, with sturdier armored Lycans also littering the settlement.

There has also been word of werewolves, ghouls, mutants, and mechanical humanoids being encountered during Resident Evil Village’s gameplay. A recent report by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board classed RE Village as M, due to the "blood and gore" that will be presented to players, and included the aforementioned beasts within their description of the rating. It is unclear, however, if these “werewolves” and “ghouls” refer to the Lycans and Maiden zombies, or other, yet-unseen enemies.

Ethan Winters Defends Himself Resident Evil Village

Finally, but by no means least, players will encounter Mother Miranda, a figure who has been shown to possess crow-like attributes that is worshiped by RE Village’s residents like a deity. Serving alongside her are the “four lords,” which include Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, as well as Karl Heisenberg, Salvatore Moreau, and Donna Beneviento. Heisenberg appears to wield telekinesis powers, Moreau is stated to be “the most repulsive character on earth,” and has some sort of aquatic beast residing in his reservoir, while Beneviento is never far from her haunting puppet, Angie.

All in all, Ethan already has his work more than cut out for him within Resident Evil Village, and these foes will surely not be all that he will come across when the game releases next month. After all, even Chris Redfield’s status in Resident Evil Village still remains a complete unknown.
