From some of the best characters of the Resident Evil franchise like Leon and Claire to new arrivals like the evil Wilson and the heroic Jun See, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness offers a little bit of everything through its characters. With some playing a smaller role and others a bigger one, all characters manage to fit perfectly into the main plot and add something to it through their unique traits.

Patrick

Partick looking sceptical at Graham's speech in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Patrick played a small part in the series but in his few scenes, he was a surprisingly strong character. His best moment came at the end where he was the one to trust Leon in regards to Wilson's conspiracy and successfully transfer the message to president Graham.

However, other than that, he was mostly a side character with no leading role or other important part to play.

Graham

Graham sits behind his desk at the White House in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Graham is the president of the United States and thus, is the one to decide whether to follow Wilson's plan and indirectly wage war at China, or stick with Ryan for a more conservative approach.

Not much is revealed about Graham's character as he usually appears skeptical and only decides which of his advisors to follow. However, in the end, he makes the right choice and decides to go against Wilson's speech.

Ryan

Claire trying to talk to Ryan in the White House in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Ryan is the White House Chief of Staff and although he is on the right track from the beginning by being suspicious of Wilson's proposals, his influence on the president's decision is almost non-existent.

Despite being an interesting character who is on the right track, Ryan is not given a chance to shine in the end and he appears throughout the series as a side character with minimal plot influence.

Yu En

Yu En talking to Leon about Jun See

Yu En is Shenmei's grandfather who is taking care of Jun See in an attempt to keep him alive and limit the infection spread. Although he is only seen in one scene, he is presented as a loyal character who, when the building collapses, chooses to remain at Jun See's side instead of trying to escape.

Further to that, he was the one who found the chip in Jun See and informed Shenmei of it, making him a pivotal but small side character.

Jun See

Jun See injured after being saved by Jason and his soldiers in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Jun See is Shenmei's younger brother and although he isn't seen a lot, he is another person with a contribution that is vital to the plot. Not only is he the one to provide Jason's squad in Penamstan with inhibitors, but his survival reveals the chip in him and makes Shenmei realize Wilson's conspiracy.

He appears as a selfless character motivated to find the truth, similar to his sister Shenmei.

Wilson

Wilson and Ryan, the presidents main advisors in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Wilson is the main villain of the series whose goal is to become rich by selling inhibitors (vaccines to the infection) in large numbers and then creating a strong army of infected that do not turn due to using inhibitors.

While he was close to convincing the president that it was China behind his actions, he gets confronted at the end by his former "ally" Jason. Although Jason bit him at the end and got him infected, Wilson managed to escape with some inhibitors left on him, so he might make a return to the franchise.

Shenmei

Shenmei in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

Motivated by the infection of her younger brother, Shenmei does everything that she can to unveil Wilson's conspiracy. She is an interesting character that although initially comes off as a villain, ends up revealing her noble goals in her scene with her grandfather Yu En and brother Jun See.

Nevertheless, she dies while attempting to confront Jason after he gets infected by appealing to his humanity.

Leon

Leon S Kennedy in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

Leon is one of the main characters in the series and serves as a government agent hired to investigate a hacking attack against the White House. He is the one to find out about Jason's and Sheinmei's treason and in turn, learns from them about Wilson's conspiracy.

By calling Patrick at the end, Leon manages to save the day and is considered the hero of the show, although he remains way too faithful towards the US government, thus refusing to give Claire the chip at the finale, an ending that confused many fans.

Jason

Jason talking with Leon at the submarine in Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Jason, in an attempt to find justice about what happened to him and his unit in Penamstan, does his best to uncover Wilson's conspiracy at all costs. He is one of the best characters in the series and after being the one to defeat the main villain Wilson, he lets himself turn into an infected, only to become the new Villain.

Although his plan was to reveal himself to the public, Leon had to stop him as the latter didn't want the US government plans to get fully revealed.

Claire

Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 6 and Revelations 2

Claire leads a solo investigation on the Penamstan civil war. When she finds out that Wilson was involved in this, she tries to speak with him only to end up getting captured by the secret agency.

She is characterized by a commitment to find and reveal the trust behind these events and thus she refuses to join Wilson when he offers her to do so, while also hoping to acquire the chip that will make this conspiracy public. In the end, she remains true to her character in trying to acquire the chip and pursue the truth, while also continuing to avoid starting any relationship with Leon.
