Another unfortunate round of leaks have hit the web for Capcom, this time culminating in story spoilers regarding next year's Resident Evil Village. On November 2, the publisher's networks suffered a ransomware attack from an unauthorized third party. An insurmountable amount of confidential information was stolen in the process; Capcom's file and email servers were hit, as well.

While the company is working with authorities to investigate the attack and reestablish the security of its networks, the leaks themselves have yet to cease. In the several weeks since the hack, the responsible party has drip fed important details about Capcom's future plans. Previously unknown bits of information surrounding Resident Evil Village's plot and character arcs were shared late last month, for example. The fact that this particular Resident Evil entry will target an April 2021 release date was also prematurely outed due to the data breach. Whether or not the publisher will maintain this launch plan presently remains to be seen.

Now, something more damaging than basic plot details and release schedules has been disseminated. The latest leak exposes outright story spoilers for the ending of Resident Evil Village, as outlined by a ResetEra post. The leak includes a breakdown of why Chris Redfield has reentered the picture. Details about Ethan Winters' full arc in the new story are featured, too, along with hints regarding the fate of his wife, Mia. Spoilers concerning Resident Evil Village's main villain sit front and center, as well, with information that addresses fan theories and teases how the character in question is connected to the series at-large. It additionally seems as though questions centered around Ethan's and Mia's child are set to receive answers in the next installment. Finally, the leak features full-on ending details, right down to basic scene descriptions.

The few story teases that Capcom officially unleashed already suggested as much, but it seems fans of Resident Evil 7 are in for quite the treat come 2021. It's especially unfortunate that this may be the way a number of players encounter these particular narrative beats for the first time. However, it's worth noting such information is related to what now counts as an older build of Resident Evil Village. It stands to reason, then, that some parts of the leak are not likely to make it to the game's final release, but the spoiler-averse should still stay on their toes until launch.

Last month's ransomware attack didn't only damage the publisher's plans for the Resident Evil Village roll out, either. Information regarding other aspects of the business took a similar hit. Most notably, Capcom's full release schedule for the next several years leaked online. How the company intends to share new information going forward is bound to be affected by news the public has previously been made aware of.
