Capcom has unleashed a new batch of screenshots for Resident Evil Village, the next entry in the long-running horror series that's due to launch in early 2021, following a string of big leaks. It almost goes without saying that the fresh look at the new title comes on the heels of a tough time for both Capcom and Resident Evil Village, but the publisher seems determined to treat the heavily scrutinized project like any other.

Early last month, a ransomware attack by hackers rendered the publisher helpless to a slew of leaks. Capcom's networks took a damaging hit, with staff emails and other sensitive pieces of data getting swept up in the online theft. In the weeks since, a host of leaked information about players and the publisher's games have surfaced online, presumably thanks to the data breach. The most recent set of details made rounds yesterday, unleashing spoiler-filled image and descriptions of Resident Evil Village's plot, characters, and ending. Whether or not the latest news out of Capcom is an attempt to mitigate the effects of yesterday's leaks is anyone's guess.

In conjunction with IGN, Capcom has let loose a fresh round of Resident Evil Village screenshots, three total. One showcases a wolf-man creature wielding a massive, bloodstained hammer, no doubt ready to attack the player character (if it's not Chris Redfield's new supernatural form). The second screenshot depicts an ominous castle setting, complete with stunning dynamic lighting and a foreboding flock of what appear to be crows. Finally, the third official image shows off yet another werewolf-esque creature, though this one looks far more menacing and feral than the other. This latest official batch of teases can be viewed below:

Interestingly, both of these monsters previously featured in Resident Evil Village's second trailer, which premiered during Sony's PlayStation 5 Showcase in September. Hopefully, this new set of images can hold fans over until Capcom is ready to unveil even more information. Barring the aforementioned leaks, there remains an air of mystery around Resident Evil Village and all its eerie setting entails. For example, the publisher has yet to publicly confirm whether there are plans to release the title on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, but leaked information seems to suggest those are coming in addition to current-gen versions.

The biggest question of all, of course, is when exactly the game will launch. According to details from the data breach last month, Capcom's internal plans suggest an April 2021 rollout for Resident Evil Village. Even if this particular revelation was at one point accurate, there's currently nothing to indicate the publisher hasn't revised its schedule for next year.
