A Twitter user has translated some statements from the producers behind Resident Evil 8 that reveal what role Chris Redfield will have in the game's storyline. For the most part, the main plot of Resident Evil 8 is still shrouded in mystery, but this new information does shed some more light on what the newest entry in the survival horror franchise is about, and how it ties into past games.

Resident Evil 8 was first leaked earlier this year when a source close to the development of the game correctly stated its code name as well as its releases window. There have been many other leaks and rumors surrounding the game since then that it became difficult to keep track of them all. Many of these rumors were officially confirmed when Resident Evil 8 was revealed at the PlayStation 5 Showcase. Despite this many fans were still confused as to what capacity characters like Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield would have in the game.

According to Twitter user Alex Aniel, Chris Redfield will actually feature very prominently in the Resident Evil game. Aniel translated an interview that was done in Famitsu magazine that showed Chris is responsible for Resident Evil 7 protagonist Ethan Winters being involved in Resident Evil 8. Apparently, Ethan fell unconscious sometime after the events of the last game and was brought to a village by Chris. It is not currently clear what Chris wants with Ethan, but it seems that it has something to do with the things he experienced during Resident Evil 7.

There were other strange details revealed during the course of this interview as well. Ethan is now in possession of a picture book that once belonged to his wife Mia, and somehow this book details some of the events that are currently happening to Ethan. There is also a merchant-like character wearing a trenchcoat that is eerily similar to the merchant from Resident Evil 4. Other rumors have stated that Resident Evil 8 will have a lot in common with Resident Evil 4 though, so it is unclear where exactly the developers are going with this.

Despite being given some answers to the mystery surrounding Resident Evil 8, it really seems that there are now even more questions to answer. Why is this mysterious picture book so important? How did Ethan get himself wrapped up in all of this? Most importantly though is why is Chris Redfield acting the way he is? It seems that no one will know until Resident Evil 8 finally releases.
