New trailers and footage for Resident Evil Village continues teasing characters and plot twists. However, a lot of aspects of RE8 remain a mystery for now. This includes the baby shown during trailers, who may play a pivotal role in the upcoming Resident Evil game. Here's everything we know so far.

Resident Evil 8 follows Ethan Winters, the unlikely hero and protagonist from RE7. The game appears to pick up not too long after the events at the Baker estate, which have left Ethan and his wife, Mia, a bit traumatized. It's not all bad news, though, since Ethan and Mia have a new daughter, Rosemary Winters, who was conceived after the main events of RE7. And until Resident Evil 8 releases, Rosemary will likely continue being a source of one of the biggest mysteries in the game.

There are still a few months to go before Resident Evil Village comes out, and there are plenty of questions fans have based on the trailers and the new PS5 demo. A lot of attention is on the new demo right now, including the mysteries surrounding Lady Dimitrescu and her castle. However, Rosemary Winters' connection to the other characters and her role in Village's main plot still provide the biggest mysteries.

Why Rosemary Winters Is Important To Resident Evil 8's Plot

Resident Evil 8 Could Be Released On Current-Gen Consoles

Very little is known about Rosemary and RE8's plot right now. However, it is known that Chris Redfield kidnaps her and presumably takes her to Resident Evil 8's village. The biggest question is why Chris, who saved the day in RE7, would want to kidnap Ethan's baby. And while this is most likely a plot device to get Ethan to the village and Dimitrescu Castle, there still has to be some explanation for Rosemary's kidnapping.

Lady Dimitrescu and her maidens could want Rosemary for their own reasons, although that doesn't explain why Chris would take Rosemary to them. It could be Rosemary's connections to RE7. Rosemary's mother, Mia, was under the control of Eveline, RE7's bioweapon, for much of that game. So it's always possible that Lady Dimitrescu wants Rosemary for her blood or connections to the Molded, although it's unclear how RE8's wine, blood, and Dimitrescu Castle are exactly connected - even if Lady Dimitrescu and her maidens are most likely vampires.

So far, that's all that's really known about Rosemary Winters, the baby seen in Resident Evil 8's trailers. Because Rosemary seems like such a pivotal character to the game's plot, fans probably won't know the answers to all their questions until Resident Evil Village releases in May.
