Resident Evil: The Final Chapter added William Levy to the ensemble, but viewers may not have noticed this one detail about his character's costume. Resident Evil wasn't the first survival horror video game, but its the one that made the genre popular. The series became such a best-seller that it didn't take long for movie producers to seek out the rights, and after George A. Romero took a crack at writing a script, the first movie was helmed by Paul W.S. Anderson.

Rather than act as a straight adaptation of any of the Resident Evil games, Anderson instead fashioned the first movie as a kind of prequel to the original game, detailing how the virus first leaked. The film added Milla Jovovich as amnesic assassin Alice, and as the movie series progressed, it became one of the few major action franchises centered around a female lead. While fans of the video games despaired somewhat about the movies' focus on cartoonish action - and lack of continuity with the games in general - they proved enormously successful, with the six movies collectively grossing $1.2 billion worldwide.

As the title suggests, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter brought the Milla Jovovich version of the series to a close. It added a few new characters to the fold too, including Ruby Rose and William Levy as hot-headed survivor Christian. Other William Levy movies and TV shows include Dancing With The Stars - where he came in third with partner Cheryl Burke during season 14 - and Girls Trip. In The Final Chapter he plays Christian, who reluctantly aids Alice and other survivors in the final battle with Umbrella. A closer look at his costume reveals an interesting motif, however.

In terms of pacing, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter barely pauses for breath, which includes frantic editing. This makes it hard to notice that William Levy's costume is positively littered with skull decorations. His t-shirt has a skull design, the back of his jacket has one, his knee pads and the handle of his machete. Even his dual-barrel pistols are painted with a skull motif. While it's possible this design may hold some relevance to Christian beyond looking cool, the movie doesn't really give the character much development beyond being angry or a good fighter.

The Resident Evil: The Final Chapter novelization makes it clear Christian is in a relationship with fellow survivor Cobalt (Rola), but this was largely removed in the movie's final edit. The actor has busy following the sequels, and in 2019 William Levy appeared in the musical drama Star on Fox.
