The new trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has arrived. Inspired by the hit survival horror games, the Resident Evil franchise has thrived on film. Milla Jovovich led a six film franchise that ended up grossing over $1 billion at the box office. Still, the movies faced criticism from fans of the games after they veered wildly of course from the source material. Now, Welcome to Raccoon City is looking to rectify that with a game-accurate adaptation that will follow the plot of the first two entries in the series quite closely.

Kaya Scodelario (Skins) is set to star as Claire Redfield alongside Robbie Amell as her brother Chris. Claire will follow Chris into the infamous Spencer mansion after he disappears while there. They will be joined by Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Lily Gao as Ada Wong, and Hannah John-Kammen as Jill Valentine, all of whom are characters key to the games. Welcome to Raccoon city is directed by Johannes Roberts and all involved, including the actors, have touted just how scary the new Resident Evil movie is.

The video begins with Scodelario's Claire Redfield saying, "Every story has a beginning. Discover the origin of evil," and it seems like she has one goal: to expose Umbrella. Hardcore fans of the games will likely be pleased to see the Welcome to Raccoon City trailer, both because it's a grand return for a beloved franchise and because it certainly does justice to the Resident Evil games. The grittier, more horrific aspects of the trailer are more in line with the tone of the games and while Jovovich's franchise had its merits, audiences have long been clamoring for a true retelling of the story.

With the release of Welcome to Raccoon City a little over a month away, audiences have also been waiting for a first look at the film and the trailer certainly delivers. From the eerie cover of 4 Non-Blondes' "What's Up" to the terrifying zombies and monsters that are dwelling within Spencer Mansion, there's plenty to look forward to in the upcoming film. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be released exclusively in theaters on November 24.
