Sony unveils a new Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City video offering a look at the movie's game-accurate monsters from the Capcom franchise. Serving as a reboot of Constantin Film's series, the film is taking a more faithful approach to adapting the Resident Evil games, putting the stories of the first and second installments together. The plot will revolve around two groups of survivors who investigate the sleepy Midwestern town of Raccoon City in the hopes of finding answers behind a deadly outbreak in the town and its ties to the pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation.

The cast for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is comprised of the roster of characters who appeared in the first two games, some of whom include Kaya Scodelairo's Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell's Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen's Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper's Albert Wesker and Avan Jogia's Leon S. Kennedy. The film will also include supporting players from the titles, namely Donal Logue as Raccoon City Police Chief Brian Irons, Neal McDonough as William Birkin, Lily Gao as Ada Wong and Marina Mazepa as Lisa Trevor. Following delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is gearing up for its release next week.

The new Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City video marks an interesting expansion on the look at Roberts' devotion to remaining faithful to the source video games. The director has discussed in numerous interviews over the past few years about his efforts to deliver something fans of the Resident Evil franchise would better appreciate in comparison to the Milla Jovovich films that came before, from the looks of its characters to designing the Spencer Mansion and RCPD. While some may find the CGI on the lickers to be a bit questionable in the video, there's no denying the effort the creative team has taken to properly bring the monsters of the games to life.

It's also interesting to note the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City video points towards a change in the zombies themselves, teasing a more gradual transition into the flesh-hungry monsters over the quicker transformations from the games. With Roberts having recently discussed his desire to adapt Resident Evil 4 in the near future, this change in the zombies would work towards that game's favor as the residents of the rural Spanish village controlled by the Las Plagas parasite retained some semblance of agency. Only time will tell how audiences respond to Roberts' efforts when Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City hits theaters on November 24.
