A new video for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City highlights some of the Easter eggs seen in the film from the iconic video games. Based on Capcom's iconic survival horror video game franchise, the movie will center on a group of survivors of a zombie outbreak in the titular Midwestern town as they seek to find the answers behind the outbreak and how pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation may be responsible. The film is a reboot of the Constantin Films-produced franchise that began with Paul W.S. Anderson's films in the early aughts.

The cast for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is primarily comprised of characters from the game franchise including Kaya Scodelairo as Claire Redfield, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Lily Gao as Ada Wong, Neal McDonough as Dr. William Birkin and Donal Logue as Police Chief Brian Irons. The film first began development in early 2017 with future Mortal Kombat writer Greg Russo set to pen the script, though the studio would later bring in 47 Meters Down's Johannes Roberts to write and direct the film. As the film nears its frequently delayed release, Sony Pictures has a new treat to build anticipation for its arrival.

Prior to the first Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer hitting the internet, Roberts had opened up about his efforts to bring the film franchise back to a more faithful translation of Capcom's games on screen in both tone and story. The new video for the reboot offers more evidence of his work to deliver what fans have hoped to see from a Resident Evil adaptation and the amount of detail put into his adaptation. With everything from little things including the burger being eaten by the doomed truck driver from Resident Evil 2 to the design of his vehicle and accurate recreations of the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City Police Department's layouts, there is certainly a large collection of Easter eggs fans will need to keep their eye out for in the film.

The original trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City may have seen a mixed reception from viewers for some of its elements, there has certainly been a largely positive response to the video game Easter eggs seen thus far, including the iconic slow zombie head turn and the bloody "Itchy Tasty" note written on a door. Though the story seems to be blending those of the first two Resident Evil games in a way fans may connect to, Roberts is certainly looking to have better shown his appreciation for the source material than the critically maligned Anderson films. Only time will tell when Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City hits theaters on November 24.
