Two creative cosplayers have recreated some of Resident Evil 2 Remake 's most terrifying scenes by becoming an unaware Claire Redfield stalked by an unseen Mr. X. Resident Evil 2 was remade in 2019, improving on the original game by ramping up the terror as players are followed throughout the title by the menacing and inescapable Mr. X.

The Resident Evil series is home to some of the most memorable enemies in horror gaming, but perhaps none are more terrifying than Mr. X. When playing either the original Resident Evil 2 or the remake, players are followed throughout the game by the large, hulking figure, with the gameplay emphasis on running and surviving rather than defeating the Tyrant. While the character is one of the most formidable in the series, modders have taken to replacing the villain with other foes or even meme characters, while one modder has gone so far as to remove Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 entirely.

Instagram cosplayer knightmage1 has impressed Resident Evil 2 fans with their stunning cosplay. The creator, appearing as Mr. X complete with game-accurate trenchcoat and fedora, is seen lurking behind Claire Redfield, played by anniegraves.cosplay, across a series of shots. The photo collection, captured by photographers anniegraves.photography and Evan Tacey, culminates with Claire facing Mr. X head-on, shining her torch after finally realizing she's being followed. The impressive shots add some real-world flavor to the classic Resident Evil 2 scenes, with intricate detailing making them even scarier than the game.

Both knightmage1 and anniegraves.cosplay have accurately captured the horrifying feeling of being stalked by Resident Evil 2's Mr. X. Being followed by the Tyrant in-game is a memorable experience for any Resident Evil fan, but the horror is not easy to bring to life so accurately. Both cosplayers are no strangers to recreating famous moments from games and shows, with knightmage1's Instagram packed with cosplays including Hellboy and He-Man, while anniegrave.cosplay fans can find the creator as Jill Valentine, Lara Croft, and even Game of Thrones' Daenerys Targaryen.

The impressive Resident Evil cosplay gives fans a taste of what a live-action Resident Evil 2 movie could look like. The series has made another leap into movies with the recently-released Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and this year also saw the release of a new Resident Evil CGI mini-series on Netflix. There's even more in store for RE fans in 2022, with the upcoming release of the Re:Verse multiplayer game, and rumors of a Resident Evil 4 remake. It's possible that even more RE cosplay will come from the creators with new game releases on the way, and those looking to keep up with the cosplayers can follow them on Instagram.
