As its current season nears a close, Resident Alien star Alan Tudyk shares his hopes for more Firefly cameos in the show. Based on Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse's graphic novels of the same name, the sci-fi comedy series centers on an alien sent to Earth to wipe out humanity who crash-lands near a small Colorado town and has to blend in as a human doctor while he tries to repair his ship and weapon. Resident Alien season 2 follows Tudyk's Harry as he crashes back on Earth and tries to find a way to save humanity from his race before they send someone new to finish his mission.

Alongside Tudyk, the cast for Resident Alien has included Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, Judah Prehn, Elizabeth Bowen, and Gracelyn Awad Rinke. The series has also seen a number of big-name recurring and guest stars, including former Terminator lead Linda Hamilton, Lost alum Terry O'Quinn and Tudyk's former Firefly co-star Nathan Fillion. Thanks to its consistently positive reviews, Resident Alien season 3 has already been confirmed for the network, and the star leading the charge is sharing his thoughts on expanding the roster.

While speaking exclusively with Screen Rant to discuss its current season, Resident Alien's Alan Tudyk looked toward the future of the hit Syfy show. When asked about the possibility for more Firefly cameos in the series, the star expressed his interest in reuniting with more of his former castmates, even teasing an idea for one specific star. See what Tudyk shared below:

I guess not, as that long pause [indicates], like, "Oh, what a good idea." Jewel, who played Kaylee, has her own show in Canada. It's a lawyer show; she's like the lead lawyer, and it's very good. But she's busy right now, she's actually working right now with Liz Bowen, who plays the deputy [in Resident Alien]. I just got a text from Jewel the other day saying she loves Liz, and they both have very sarcastic senses of humor and would get along wonderfully. Morena, I guess if a role came up that I think — I just thought of a role. So, the answer's yes, I'm going to push for Morena to be in season 3, I don't know what she's doing, I think she's pretty busy. But whatever, there's breaks in schedules. Come to Vancouver, Morena! Come on…If Morena gets cast in season 3, you should get some kind of cut of her pay, I feel like. We worked as her agent in this.

Which Other Firefly Stars Could Make Resident Alien Cameos?

Firefly fans have already been treated to a reunion in the show between Tudyk and Nathan Fillion, who voiced the octopus-like alien 42 that briefly helps Harry in his journey. Given Resident Alien has already drawn in a number of other big-name cameos, it seems possible Tudyk could reunite with other former co-stars, including Morena Baccarin, namely as her Deadpool 3 future continues to remain a mystery to her and audiences. The question then also becomes which other Firefly stars have the time in their schedule, as Jewel Staite is currently busy leading the Canadian-based Family Law, while Gina Torres is one of the leads on 9-1-1: Lone Star.

Given Fillion was able to fit in a vocal cameo for Resident Alien, there are a number of paths available for Tudyk's other Firefly co-stars to reunite with the actor on the Syfy show. Additionally, with Tudyk teasing that Resident Alien season 3 isn't set to begin filming until January, there is plenty of time for Baccarin, Staite, Torres and the rest of the Firefly crew to make some time in their schedule for an appearance. In the meantime, audiences can catch up with the first two seasons of Resident Alien streaming on Peacock now and Firefly available to stream on Hulu.
