FX Sets Premiere Dates For 'Rescue Me', 'Louie' & 'Wilfred'

FX sets its summer line-up with Rescue Me, Louie and Wilfred

FX is prepping its summer lineup with new and returning shows. The last season of veteran firefighter drama Rescue Me is joined by sophomore comedy Louie and Aussie import Wilfred.

Rescue Me is wrapping up its seven season run with Dennis Leary starring and running the show. It premieres July 12th. The show follows a tight-knit group of New York City firefighters as they go about their volatile professional and personal lives. Rescue Me gained a solid initial following in 2004, and alongside Nip/Tuck and The Shield helped solidify FX's reputation for original programming among cable networks.

The show has maintained an intimate connection with New York City. It's only fitting that the final episode should recognize the city as the catalyst for Rescue Me's drama when it airs on September 6th, almost exactly ten years after the September 11th attacks. Rescue Me remains one of FX's most popular shows.

Louie returns for its second season on June 23rd. Created, written, directed and starring comedian Louis C. K., the show has garnered critical acclaim after its first 13-episode season. C. K., who has written for The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, stars as a fictionalized version of himself with various guest stars. The second season will feature 13 episodes.

Wilfred is an odd one. An adaptation of the Australian sitcom of the same name, the show stars Elijah Wood as a neurotic suburbanite who sees his neighbor's dog as a man (co-creator Jason Gann) in a dog suit. Wilfred begins its first season on June 23rd. Check out the first TV spot for a preview of the off-kilter comedy.

Rescue Me - FX

Rescue Me and Louie have both used FX's cable TV liberties to full extent; the former features graphic stories about rape and drug use, while the latter follows the raw comedic styles of its creator. If Wilfred is anything like the uncompromising original, it will likewise be for grown-ups only. FX has carved its niche as a place for serious drama and unapologetic comedy (see Justified, Sons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Archer) and has some seriously enjoyable television to show for its efforts.

Rescue Me starts July 12th at 10PM on FX.

Wifred's series premiere is June 23rd at 10PM.

Louie starts the same night at 10:30PM.
