The Reno 911! season 7 trailer is here, teasing new episodes and laughs all on Quibi, a new streaming service. The show has been off the air for the past decade, first appearing on Comedy Central. The show originally ran for six seasons until 2009, marking half-hour long episodes. Now on Quibi, Reno 911! has been revived in a new format following the digital platform’s aim at short-form content.

Long-time fans did not expect another season for this long-running comedy series, so there was shock to hear that it is coming back a decade later, but even more that it won’t be on its original cable television network, Comedy Central. The original Reno 911! cast and creators are still on board even with this shift. In December, Quibi announced the Reno 911! revival will only appear on its digital platform. Since Quibi’s content is videos that are 10 minute or less, this new season of Reno 911! will also follow that short format.

In the Reno 911! season 7 trailer, released by IGN, the full Reno Sheriff’s Department is back. Show creators and stars like Kerri Kenney-Silver, Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Wendi McLendon, along with the rest of the full cast, have returned to the show. The trailer showed they will still be utilizing their mockumentary style of filming, following the cops on their daily duties and personalized “protect and serve” style. The trailer promises there will be bigger busts, bolder action, and slightly better aim for our returning crew. Snippets of the antics are glimpsed in the trailer, like following Officer Weigel and Johnson at what seems to be a shootout at a Second Amendment runway show. Watch the full trailer below.

Even with a shift in runtime, it looks like Qubi’s short format won’t be an issue for Reno 911!’s comedy. The show's format already features short skits and loose continuity, much like its other mockumentary series The Office and Parks and Recreation. So these short skits can definitely fit for Quibi’s 10-minute episode format. Reno 911! season 7 will be 12 episodes long, marking around an hour and 20 minutes of new content if every episode clocks in right around the 10-minute mark. This may come as a loss to some, disappointed that the 12 episodes won’t follow the traditional episode time frame. But others may be simply happy there is any type of new content and jokes for a beloved series a decade after its last season.

Only time will tell if Quibi’s short format will mark success for Reno 911!’s revival season. Still, one thing is certain following the release of the Reno 911! season 7 trailer: Fans of the series can prepare for even more shenanigans. Long-time fans and those interested in seeing how this new wave of digital platform production plays out may tune in to see the new season when it premieres next week.
