The newest trailer for Reno 911! teases Alfred "Weird Al" Yankovic as Ted Nugent. This hilarious revelation comes as the Emmy-winning mockumentary series makes its triumphant return on the streaming platform Quibi. Having originally aired from 2003 to 2009 on Comedy Central, the show parodies documentary-style police series like Cops, following the misadventures of the lovably incompetent police of the Reno Sheriff's Department. A continuation of the original series, the new revival features the show's original cast, including creators Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Keri Kenney-Silver in their starring roles.

While there has been talk of bringing back Reno 911! since it went off the air ten years ago, efforts at a revival were unsuccessful until now. Netflix made its bid at continuing the series, but its attempts fell through because Comedy Central, who at the time held sole rights to the show, was not involved in the negotiations. Additionally, Lennon and Garant were not available at that point, being attached to other projects. Thankfully, Quibi not only secured the rights to the series but also managed to get all of the original showrunners on board, with Lennon even commenting that the platform's short format seemed "custom made" for the show.

With the success of the first half of the new season on Quibi, Season 7, Part 2 is set to deliver even more laughs, with a new YouTube trailer promising a hilarious cameo of Weird Al as Ted Nugent. The trailer features a scene where Reno police attempt to calm a belligerent, crossbow-wielding Nugent by putting down their weapons, only to have the famous rock star pull a concealed firearm on the now defenseless officers.

Weird Al has been having success as of late. In addition to his hysterical appearance on Reno 911!, the Canadian singer/songwriter recently released a music video for his "Hamilton Polka," using footage from the recorded production of Hamilton on Disney+. The "Hamilton Polka" features selected bits from some of the musical's most famous songs, each given a polka remix, and the new video has footage from the play edited to sync with Al's voice and tempo.

Weird Al's appearance is just one of the latest highlights from a comedy series that has been experiencing an impressive resurgence. Reno 911! Season 7, Part 1 already delivered plenty of laughs, and if the trailer above is any indication, Part 2 is set to continue this trend. Fans who waited over a decade for the show to come back are surely celebrating now, and they are about to have a lot more to celebrate. Reno 911! premieres on Quibi Aug. 24.
