The newest MCU film, Thor: Love and Thunder, brought another interesting plot to the franchise while continuing one of the long-running storylines in the MCU.

There are many films in the franchise that fans can't get enough of, and viewers are constantly debating about which movie is the best in the MCU. However, not all fans agree. These popular films may be loved by many, but some fans thought they had their issues and didn't deserve all of the accolades. Redditors shared their own opinions on why these films are the most overrated films in the MCU.

Iron Man (2008)

In this first film in this franchise, Tony Stark is captured by terrorists that want him to create a deadly weapon. Instead of working for the villains, he builds the Iron Man suit and goes back to New York where he works to combat crime. While many fans believe Robert Downey, Jr. gives the best superhero performance as Iron Man, not everyone was impressed with this film.

Reddit user BigChung0924 said, "I do consider [Iron Man] to be the most overrated. while I get that it kickstarted the mcu, the villain is pretty lame and overall it just isn’t as good as the [First Avenger] or other origin movies." Tony Stark impresses most fans, but they don't all appreciate his origin film.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Thor: Ragnarok is one of the highest-rated MCU films to date, though some fans believe there were several improvements in Thor: Love and Thunder compared to the previous installment. Despite the film's praise, there are several fans the believe it receives too much hype.

Reddit user OmegaRees said, "While I do really enjoy the change in pace and tone from the previous Thor films, I just find it too funny, particularly when it sacrifices the opportunity for “cool” moments for unfunny gags." Fans consider Thor: Ragnarok one of the funniest MCU films ever, but others think the comedic factor actually degrade the quality of the film.

Iron Man 3 (2013)

After saving New York from destruction, Tony Stark is plagued by the Iron Man persona, the superhero becoming so much a part of him that it begins to negatively impact other aspects of his life. While this film has a generally positive rating, not all fans were impressed with the plot.

Reddit user dabfab said, "Iron Man 3 had potential but decided to waste it on jokes and subverting expectations." Though Tony Stark is one of the audience's favorite characters in the MCU, some fans find that his witty dialogue can often be at odds with the storyline.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker's European vacation is cut short when he is recruited by Nick Fury to fight otherworldly creatures invading earth through a tear in the universe. This film received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both critics and audiences.

However, not all fans thought this film was one of the best. One Reddit user said, "Jake Gyllenhaal is great but I feel like he didn’t make Mysterio a menacing villain; comical more than anything, which sort of took away the fear factor from him and disengaged my interest as a viewer." These fans felt the plot didn't have enough stakes for it to be compelling.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

In this epic conclusion to the Avengers arc, the plot takes the fans on a rollercoaster of emotions, battles, and death. However, not every fan was impressed by this conclusion to the Avengers storyline. There are several things Redditors would change about Avengers: Endgame.

Reddit user jomarthecar said, "I found [Endgame] disappointing. Too much exposition, too much fan servicing and too little action and tension." With such an epic conclusion to many storylines within the MCU, some fans expected a bit more action and suspense.

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Captain America: Civil War did not only display a clash between two major characters, but introduced a few major MCU characters like the Black Panther and Spider-Man as well. Despite some of the major events in this film, however, some fans were not impressed with its inclusion in the franchise.

One Reddit user said Civil War was "very clearly just fanservice" and then went on to add, "It's a good movie, but you know they just did it to show off their special effects." Many fans might think this is a harsh critique, but some agree the film felt unnecessary to the storyline.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Avengers: Infinity War introduced Thanos as a major villain working to destroy countless worlds, including Earth, and has several unexpected turns of events. Most fans were completely enthralled with this film and found the ending to be the most shocking conclusion in MCU history.

Some fans, on the other hand, thought that there were a couple of other plotlines that would have been more interesting. Reddit user KraakenTowers said, "Dusting the original Avengers would have forced the new characters to interact and form bonds with each other that would better serve future movies." This fan felt snapping new characters in the franchise made the stakes far less intimidating.

Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)

Against a ruthless villain, Peter Quill reluctantly teams up with four misfits in order to save their galaxy from Ronan's forces. This film is one of the top-rated MCU films of the lot, but certain fans were not as impressed by the introduction film as others.

Reddit user Auntypasto said, "Some people rank it as the best Marvel movie, and I can't for the life of me wrap my head around that idea. Frankly, I think it's middling at best." They go on to mention how they find the villain to be mediocre and there to be too much comedy overall. These fans believe the film gets more hype than it deserves.
